I am attempting to play back some blurays and am having some issues with encryption. Ive downloaded a couple of different KEYDB.cfg files as per the post:
I’m trying to play bluray discs (original). I keep receiving a message saying that the disks are encrypted. In the forum I found your post Sam that you should install the AACS keys. Just how should I do it? Can I play such discs at all? I am using Vero 4k +, bluray Samsung SE-506. Logs in the link: https://paste.osmc.tv/onopusifoq

Which has worked for some of my blurays but not for others.
I have also run dvdfab passkey and FindVUK on my PC to add the key manually (it appeared to already exist) with no joy.
If I already have the correct information for a particular disc why does kodi say its still encrypted?
Would symlinking the libmmbd.so.0 from makemkv for libbdplus and libaacs as per:

So BD+ cant be decrypted?
Hard to tell with such a small snippet.
Edit: looks like BD+ requires a virtual machine. See Blu-ray - ArchWiki . I’m not sure Kodi supports this.
I tried installing:
sudo apt-get install libaacs0 libbluray-bdj libbluray1
and
sudo apt-get install libbdplus-dev
Which seemed to stop the notification that the disc is encrypted but it still doesnt play.

I don’t think BD-J will work properly. There’s been some discussion about it, but I seem to recall there being a nasty memory leak which didn’t make it feasible.
So ive been reading about bluray keys and such and I have a query:
If I can play the bluray in VLC in windows using libaacs.dll and whatever keys I have in “AppData\Roaming\aacs” should I not also be able to play it in Kodi?
If it wont play in Kodi because its encrypted, is this to do with the version of libacss0?
Im just trying to understand the limitations for playing blurays in kodi.
You can play it back in Kodi if you copy the keys over. BD-J won’t work however

So it detects the AACS encryption but then it doesnt play?
Hard to tell with just a snippet and no debug log.

So even though VLC can play it with its own libraries and keys it cant be decrypted in Kodi?
Is there any option of compiling the VLC libraries for osmc?
We use libaacs, which is a VLC library from the stretch repo
You can recompile it and potentially enable BD+ support if there is a newer version available

Doesn’t look like Kodi is loading your version. Try set —prefix=/usr during configure
I re-ran ./configure with --prefix=/usr and now get three entries for “ldconfig -v | grep libaacs”:

But the bluray still doesnt play. I think it may be beyond my capabilities to get working, but thanks for your help anyway.
Seems like if its a fox bluray and/or has dolby atmos then it wont play in kodi, otherwise it seems to work (even with pretty new films, eg Venom/Aquaman works fine while Minority report which is much older, doesnt).
I was hoping it would be a bit more cut and dry, pre 2016 works, post 2016 might work. Oh well if it works in kodi i’ll use it to watch movies, otherwise if I need menus and/or it doesnt work i’ll use my proper bluray player.
Oh well at least i can use it to watch R1 DVD’s

I was trying to get bluray playback working for some newer titles (which only works if kodi can decrypt them) but in so doing i seem to have broken DVD playback (which was working yesterday!)

It seems like the DVD is not getting mounted correctly?
