Defacto settings for 2160p HDR content

Hi, I’ve got a stack of 2160p HDR content which i play through my Vero 4K and to be honest, i’m not seeing much in the way of a difference between the 2160p HDR and 1080p versions of the same content…

I’m pretty sure it’s just that my TV doesn’t have the nits to do it all justice (LG 55SJ810V) , but just to be sure, could someone please tell me what my settings should be on OSMC to get the most out of it?

I’m posting a mediainfo from one of the files below because i’m probably missing some technical specs that I should of told you :

As I found out just yesterday, make sure the adjust refresh rate option is set to Always or On start / stop.

Might wanna try LG’s UHD 60 FPS HDR demo. Also experiment if the HDR autoswitch option of the Vero does anything for you.

When starting to play HDR content, my LG B6 displays a small popup bubble that even says HDR. You can also point in the upper left corner with the remote and click to display the current content’s specs.

And make sure that you have the GUI resolution set to 1080!

Thanks… I’ll try the clip…

I definitely see the bubble pop up when I play HDR content… i’m just completely underwhelmed by this HDR stuff… i thought it was meant to make everything look stunning and to me, it just looks no different to the 1080p stuff i’ve got…

The only thing that looks really good is Planet Earth 2… but to be honest… that looked brilliant anyway…

Thanks, yeah i have the Gui set to 1080p.

Might be because the TV uses edge-lit LED, not OLED.

The linked LG demo was the most breathtaking in terms of colours I’ve watched on mine. If that doesn’t blow you away, hardly anything will. Planet Earth II looks gorgeous, yeah.

The LG demo does look great… cab you tell me where the auto adjust refresh rate option is? I can’t find it…

Glad you liked it!
