Hi,
I’ve got a Vero 4K+. Connected with HDMI to an LG OLED55CX6LA and with SPDIF to my receiver. I had Kodi 18.9 on there, and yesterday upgraded to 19.4. Yes I know that’s very late but I’ve learned not to upgrade to major new versions of Kodi too quickly.
In Kodi I have the setting “Mute HDMI audio output” switched on under System - Display. In Kodi 18 this all worked perfectly.
But now with 19.4 when I play HDR content I get dual audio; so both via the receiver and via the TV. It’s just HDR content that does that. Anything else is perfectly fine i.e. only sound via receiver.
I’ve messed with all the audio settings but the only setting that ‘fixes’ the dual audio thing is to set ‘HDR processing’ to ‘Force SDR’ (under Player - Videos). Obviously this is far from ideal. My TV’s OSD no longer shows the HDR popup and content looks off. It’s watcheable for sure, but I’d like HDR.
The ‘Auto’, ‘Force passthrough’ and ‘BT2020SDR’ options all result in dual audio. All the other audio related settings don’t seem to have any effect. It really is just HDR content that has this problem, all other content is receiver only.
Am I missing something? You wouldn’t expect HDR settings to affect sound output?
How do I fix this? Otherwise I’m just going to go back to Kodi 18.
