FTP does not work in osmc and Raspberry Pi 2

I am not able to get ftp access to my osmc installation on my raspberry pi 2. I use the ip adres as the server adres and tried to login with user osmc.

With Raspbmc I used to be able to simply login that way, what has changed with osmc? I cannot find anything in the settings regarding ftp.

I think FTP and SMB are work in progress.

sudo apt-get install ftp-app-osmc```

This works, Thank you very much!

Is it possible to install SMB like this too?

Not yet.

So I was half right…

Just tried to install FTP as above, but get:

“Unable to locate package ftp-app-osmc”

message.

Repo rebuild in place.

Sam

Thanks Sam works great!

Ok I will admit I am a total newbie. Where exactly are you meant to enter the sudo commands?.

Go to App Store under My OSMC and install an FTP server from there.

I know its old topic, but why can’t install FTP server on older OSMC_Kodi
built ?

eg: OSMC_TGT_rbp2_20161224
via SSH = E: Unable to locate package ftp-app-osmc
App Store under My OSMC = Some packages were not installed/removed,
details have been written to Kodi log.

and i did
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y

and same error messages

You’re running an old release of OSMC that’s no longer supported.

You need to install a fresh, up-to-date image if you want to install the ftp-app-osmc package.

Thanks the quick response =)
but why not resolve if i do full apt-get dist-upgrade ?

Because your Pi is pointing to an old OSMC repo (possibly Jessie) that is now empty.

I see and thanks the help
on the newer built, its support the Install LCD I2C and install IR Remote control etc like older repo’s ?

Probably yes to both.

The best approach would be to install the fresh image onto a separate SD card and keep the original SD card as a fallback in case you can’t get the LCD to work.

Hi…i would sugegst to Closure your RPI, reboot your switch. Then, at that point reboot your RPi.

Then, at that point take a gander at the setup pages for your switch, since some are pre-arranged with a moronically little DHCP pool.
