HDMI-CEC seems to stop working after a couple of hours

You might have screwed up your regular install by allowing that update to install. If when you pull the USB disk and boot from your regular storage you get stuck in a sad face loop then you will need to access the terminal and…
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade
which hopefully should get that back working again. I think you would need to remake the USB build and then not allow it to update if you see the message again. You can turn off the checking for updates in the My OSMC add-on.

Thanks for reply, I hope you are not right. I wilw wait for Sams replay before doing everything from scratch. I have just finished setting test osmc up with similar plugins and setting as on normal build. Also I think I didnt have a choice of avoiding upgrade. It said something like the updates are downloaded…

It would have said upgrades are available and given a yes/no option to install them. If you post a log I can tell you if you actually installed them.

OSMC will never update without your consent.

You may need to reinstall OSMC to your eMMC now as a result of updating.

Good news, the main Vero system from eMMC is also working. However I have reinstalled the test USB for the sake of proper testing and disabled updates.

Oh, FYI, the update message was the following (which may be misleading):

OSMC Update Available
Updates have been downloaded, but Kodi will need to exit to install them.
Would you like to exit and install the updates now?
Yes No

I felt that here there is no choice really, if I say yes it restarts and updates, if I say no after next restart or power cycle it will update itself automatically. So maybe the wording is misleading a bit.

No - it won’t update later automatically.

It would be good if some others can test this. I plan to release an update on Sunday, but unless I receive further testing, the improvements here will need to wait for the next update.

I’ll put my Vero 4K back into rotation and run some test on this.

Edit: Vero 4K is back in service, boy have I missed properly de-interlaced VC-1 output - props to the OSMC team!

Morning @sam_nazarko,
I am installing this now and will report back. I will usually see an event within 24 hours, so I will be able to give you some feedback in the immediate term.

Sam

It’s been about 24 hours with the SD image and the volume control on my Apple TV has stopped working.

Grabbed the logs from the Vero, please let me know if you require more info.

24 hours on the stand alone also. Touch wood, all still working as expected.

For two days it was ok, just checked it now and it hanged again. I had to pull the power plug and reinsert again.
how do I enable necessary logging? I want to contribute too.

The device hanged or the CEC subsystem hanged?

CEC/HDMI hanged

Thanks for confirming.

Some logs will help. I also want to check you’re on the right version after the update mishap before.

Best

Sam

I have a Samsung 9 series QLED with an RPI3B+ and latest OSMC. CEC goes stupid nearly every day and I can’t control the Pi with the smart remote so I have Logitech K400 keyboard also connected which always works. If I reboot the CEC works again. I have two other Pi connected to older Samsung TVs and they have no issues

The users here are using Vero 4K / 4K + devices.

I had a crash again today (it took a couple of days). When CEC crashes Vero crashes too (at least I dont have any signal on Veros hdmi)

I don’t think this is the same issue as reported by others.

It is, my soundbar disconnects and I have to restart Vero, to fix the cec problem. All is happening after last years update. With last years march build it was ok.
