Intermittent black screen

I have a Vero V connected to a Marantz Cinema 70s Slimline connected to a QN94A Neo QLED 4K HDR (2021). I’m experiencing an issue whereby the television occasionally shows a black screen for a couple of seconds before returning to the Vero V signal. It happens both when playing media files and not. It seems to occur more frequently after the Vero V has been idle a few hours; this is why my log has an interval of several hours. I reset the Vero V in the morning (and was unable to induce the black screen). I tried again in the evening and it occurred several times.

I can confirm the screen went black momentarily at these times

  • 18.01
  • 18.02
  • 18.05
  • 18.06

I don’t see anything obvious in the logfile at those timestamps (there’s nothing even logged at 18.06). Is there anything that might be causing this and how can I rectify the issue?

Thank you and kind regards

Look at these two threads and see if what’s being described there is similar to what you are experiencing.

It might be related although I’ve experienced this since first getting the Vero V with 21.1. Also, the screen blacking out happens irrespective of playing media, i.e. happens when Estuary is idle.

@sam_nazarko could you advise please?

Have you tried another HDMI cable? Is it only a recent issue?

  1. Yes, this was the first thing I tried. I replaced both cables with new 4K HDMI Cable 0.9m 18Gbps High Speed .
  2. I purchased the Vero V last November and it was an issue then. I waited to see if the 21.2 release addresses it.

Ok good to know it’s not new. Can you try different ports on the AVR and TV?

Sounds like a hdmi handshake problem…Had it with every device connected to the avr and from there to my tv. I solved mine by turning earc off and using only arc on my sony bravia but could be something else in your case…
