Issues with remote not working after configuring remote storage & DB

So i was having a weird problem on my vero4k (one of them upstairs, works fine, behaves). The one downstairs just stopped working on CEC and the remote didnt work. I replaced the battery and still nothing. Didnt even work with keyboard. So no idea why it wasnt happy.

Either way, an excuse to upgrade to the Vero V., well, the problem follows me.

I tried a restore from backup (both on latest versions) and i just got the settings page and nothing else, remote not working again. Ok so it didnt like the backup, thats fine, i’ll restore manually.

I re-installed OSMC and configured my fstab with remote media, added in SQL DB settings in advancedsettings and manually copied over the sources.xml from the backup.

Reboot and remote doesnt work again, its stuck on “there are no default backgrounds etc” for the Aeon Nox Silvo skin i installed fresh from the store.

I … dont understand whats happening? surely only configuring those 3 things shouldnt cause the remote to stop working?

Vero V arrived this afternoon and on a default install seems to be fine, but once i configure my settings its having non of it. What can i do here?

Can you log in via SSH? Then upload logs via grab-logs -A and share URL.

Any thoughts? I’d like to be able to use the skin and a shared database but it seems that it doesnt want to play.

This should be fixed first.
I’d suggest checking permissions.

Remote probably isn’t working because Kodi isn’t fully starting

My guess is the Vero 4K wasn’t on the latest version of Kodi.
You have granted database permissions to specific databases; but Kodi creates new ones when it is upgraded. This is for compatibility purposes and to also keep existing older versions running smoothly (albeit without library updates)

If the user doesn’t have permission to create new databases, then you get the above error.

oh, well thats … new. Sorry should have seen that myself. I’ll go fix that !

I did give it permissions, but ill go figure out whats happening there.

anyway, this is completely a me issue, thanks for pointing out something that should have been obvious. Ill go fix that and see what the situation is.

but also i used the oldDB password, not the new one. I do surprise myself with how stupid i can be sometimes.

Reading some other issues with regards to people having DB problems, and i am now mix and matching 4k to V, but both are up to date. I dont care about having to re-scan the databases. So i’ve dropped all the DB’s to see if it will recreate and nope, remote still wont work.

Looks like it was just the console being silly. From OSMC Vero-V Device directly, i can connect and it sees all the right privilages. So i dont believe i have any SQL issues, even though i dont see any connections. But thats because i cant tell it to scan.

Nope. I resolved that. I did include an updated set of logs in my previous post (and i double checked them myself) to ensure there were no obvious errors this time.

However i’m still seeing the same behaviour of remote not working (or keyboard). Its quite strange.

Please post a log, I suspect Kodi is still freezing

you might try stopping mediacenter and then install and run evtest (it shows button presses) to isolate the problem to being just with Kodi or not.

Kodi is getting access denied to the mysql database and you seem to have some odd read errors as well. I also see a bunch of TEE errors but I have no clue what those are all about. There appears to be something you’ve done that has really made a mess of things. I’d suggest a clean install and then bring things back one at a time to figure out where exactly it is that things are breaking.

I dont quite understand, but ill go and take another look at this in detail. There is no access denied to the database anymore and i didnt see that in the latest logs.
