Kodi 17 Krypton

Hi Guys,

Is there a release date for Kodi 17 on RPi?

Krypton has been released by Kodi today. Nothing firm on when OSMC will push the update yet.

Soon.

I had to get my laptop repaired today, but there are a few improvements I want to make on the OSMC side before publishing anything.

Sounds good, would there be a way to get from the testing/beta to the stable/final Kypton?

@MarkusLange as soon as its published in the repo just remove the entry for the beta repo dunno which one you used and then reinstall the mediacenter package  usually how it goes.

and for those that are rushing as usual please remember that OSMC is opensource and that software development is volunteer work and that they are working on pushing Krypton as fast and as SAFE as possible so that people dont have to send logs on bulk

No need to remove the test repo
Unless you are on v18 builds. No plan to support downgrades of these builds

Hello all

I think the title says everything! How can I update my RPI 2 to kodi 17 with osmc?

thanks

@attackk when it hits the repository you will get a big screen saying there is updates downloaded and the question is “do you want to update” hope that settles the question for you

thank you so much

Will Krypton be here in the next few days or is it more likely to be weeks?

It will be released in around an hour
It’s already out, but I need to ensure we have enough CDN capacity (mirrors), before announcing the release.

so I’ll just be able to check for updates and then there it will be? That’s great thanks Sam

Yes.

You should read the blog post first when it is announced, as it will cover common questions and issues that upgraders may encounter.

Brilliant, you’re the dev aren’t you? I remember your name from a few years ago and raspbmc

One of them. There are a lot more team members now.

Great work anyway, I’ve had raspberry pi’s (all of them) since day one but started using an amazon fire tv for kodi and using my pi’s for all sorts of retropie projects. Decided to use my pi 3 for kodi again though

Get update to 2017.02-1 but Kodi stands by 17.0 RC4

So far

It hasn’t reached your mirror yet. Don’t expect Krypton until you see a blog post.
Wait 15 mins, and remove the krypton repo from your sources.list.

Patience is key…

Ah ok I read your Post

Kodi Krypton has now been released and is available for all OSMC platforms. This is a significant change and as such you may have some questions or issues.

Ok I will remove the last one

I have my skin (phenomenal) and addons backed up on my RPi. Should I expect any major impact on addon/skin compatibility issues when upgrading?
