No Network access to files

I haven’t use my device for a while, & when using, it’s not “finding” my music? I’ve got a Win 10 PC, Vero connected via wired ethernet, & I can access the device via browser or Ios App. All my folders are set as network-shared,but if I go into Add Files, then specify location using Device-name (ie Acer-MB), I get an error “Invalid Syntax”. If I use IP address, either with or without username & password, it just shows a message saying timeout, & no network connection? I’ve tried changing Max …

after some days the same behaviour again. although after the last time the DB migration was completed successfully.

What ist my Problem? So anybody needs a new debug log?

i did the same procedure like last time…
First:
Stop KODi first… “Sudo systemctl Stop Mediacenter”
Second:
Remove the upgraded (MyVideos131) Database and restart Moviecenter
Third:
“Sudo systemctl Start Mediacenter”

after that i saw this picture on display…

and than this one

So out of my point of view everything seems to be ok. But tommorrow morning i will have the same problem again.

Here is the important part of the Log cause IT was to big for uploading… It shows the last parts of the Backup and the beginning of the reboot @5:00 in the morning. After that i had the same problem again…

Kodi will need to be able to create new databases. When it upgrades a database, it keeps the existing database and creates a new one. I suspect the MySQL user does not have the necessary permissions to create a new one.

But I haven’t changed anything. As you can see, the user “Kodi” has the corresponding permissions with his password. The user “Kodi” is also in the Advancedsettings.xml and accesses this DB.
If I stop the MovieCenter, delete the DB “My…131” in PHPMyAdmin and start the MovieCenter again, the migration of the DB is also carried out (as you can see in the pictures) and everything then works as it should. It is only the next day and after a restart that I get the errors and have the same problem again.

But that can’t be a permissions problem if it works once and then not again.

This is the view of “MyV…131” after the migration. To me, everything looks correct, right?

I am not that familiar with the Kodi database schema.

Do you have another user, maybe root, where you can check with to rule out a privilege escalation? When you say the issue comes back the next day: do you just mean when you restart / power the device back on?

I have a similar setup (as I have 3 osmc devices accessing it), and my access table looks like this:

@Shawn2018_1 - make sure the kodi user has the right privileges. Go on “Rechte ändern” and make sure that you have the “create” privilege - as that one is required when you upgrade the version.

I bet it falls back to the old release, and be done.
What you can do, is “rename” MyVideos131 to MyVideos131_bak, make sure there is no MyVideos131 database there anymore, then, while in debug mode, reboot the device.
it should now be able to “create” the new db (as it does not yet exist) and convert the data inside.

If that doesn’t work, rename the MyVideos131_bak to MyVideos131 and you can use it again :} as before, with the weird behavior.

Yes my system (kodi) restarts every day @5:00 am to have a clean system. After this restarts my problems are back. Until the restart everything works fine.

@Smurphy as you can see i have the similar permissions for the user “kodi” Like you.
In front of the “Create” Permissions the checkbox ist marked.
And everytime i delete the “MyVideos131” DB and restart my system/kodi the “MyVideos121” DB will be migrated. After that i can see the “MyVideos131” is created and everything works fine until i restart the system.

Also have you tried without having your mysql server to go to sleep?

OK. Your DB is unable to write it to disk it seems.
Check the debug log of your database. it may tell us more.

Hello everyone, I tried to implement some of your suggestions.

I changed the user in the advancedsettings.xml from “Kodi” to “root” with the corresponding password

After that stopped the media center, then I deleted the “MyVideos131” DB and started the media center again.

Nothing happened. No DB migration was performed and that was the Debug Log.

Then I changed the user in the advancedsettings.xml back to “kodi” with the corresponding password and restarted the system again.

After the restart the DB migration started immediately

And when the interface started again I saw the following information.

And this is the debug log that resulted from it.

Then I checked the power saving mode of my HDDs in my Synology NAS. But no power saving mode is activated.

And when I wanted to check the reference to the WakeOnLan from fzinken (with a “normal” restart and not with the CronJob restart), I got a window in the KODI interface with the information “Wake on Lan 192.168.19.2”. It seems to be something like that.
Then I checked my DLAN adapter settings and there was an energy saving mode. I hadn’t changed anything there, but maybe an update added this setting.

I have now changed the setting and restarted the system, but it looks like this again…

I can´t find any special entry maybe with issues.
Now i tried @fzinken hint. I delete the “MyVideos131” DB, started the mediacenter and did the migration. After the migration i restarted the system manually and had the same problem that the DB were not shown and i could watch any movie/series. So its not only a problem after the cronjob restart in the morning.

is IMHO the issue. It seems it remains in cache, but then the data on the disk is read after a restart/exit from sleep.
When did you last reboot the NAS? From the logs, it seems the DB is restarted quite often. But the disks of the NAS? You checked the NAS Journal entry? journcltl -f while doing the OSMC DB recreate thingy?
