Netflix add in not playing films

Sorry Guys!!

Following Joakim’s help (here) I now have the netflix add on loading and am logged into netflix.

The 1st time I tried to watch a film the add on downloaded and (I think) installed widevine.

But the films don’t play. The egg timer comes up and the screen flashes a couple of times then nothing.

Sorry I don’t even know where to start looking to debug this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks P

From Wikipedia:

HTTP 403 is a standard HTTP status code communicated to clients by an HTTP server to indicate that the server understood the request, but will not fulfill it.

Probably an authentication issue, make sure your credentials are correct.

Indeed. Double check your Netflix user / pass.

Hi Guys

Sorry thought of that but I have logged in to netflix on first use of addon. I double checked at the time that I had the correct password.

Now each time I enter it allows me to select which “family member” and then gives me the correct “My List”.

Does that not mean I’m logged in correctly? If I weren’t logged in then the above wouldn’t be visible surely?

Is there any way to log back out of the addon to check if this is the issue?

Thanks

P

Under Settings for the plugin, you can switch user alternative logout.

Go to Video->Video add-ons-Netflix(do not click yet)
Click context menu, and on the left side you should get a few options, one of those is settings

I attempted to log out as suggested by Joakim. Not sure if it was successful. On looking at settings “Logout” (not Login) is still an option. Tried also opening addon and selecting switch user under settings.

All the above seem to give similar error:

14:35:06.051 T:3952079600 WARNING: Previous line repeats 1 times.

A reboot fixed this and forced me to login again. But now same issue as before i.e. cant play videos.

I get to select “family member” and “My List” is populated so must be logged in to some extent.

Any thing else I can do to verify if it is a login issue?

Thanks

P

If it wasn’t authentication problems, the only thing i can think of is “inputstream.adaptive or libwidvine” that is having issues. Try removing this:

rm -rf .kodi/cdm

restart netflix and it will grab a new libwidvine and install it again

Edit: Another thing accrued to me, if you installed the version of request that i previously mentioned in post 142(2.18.4, i changed it today to 2.19.1), it might be it. I check my install now and it’s working( a few updates ago 2.19.1 didn’t work, that’s why i recommended the older one):

osmc@pi2:~$ pip freeze | grep requests
requests==2.19.1

Hi Joakim

I tried reinstalling widevine as suggested but same problem.

Then I had an idea …

Have been carrying out my testing at work, where we have a fairly strict firewall.

Took 4k+ home and Netflix addon works fine.

Thanks for all your help.

My conclusion is that issue was a firewall or network issue not an issue with the addon
