New Vero4k plus came today…exceptional machine !! Picture and sound quality is top-notch and boy…this thing is fast !
My main concern was it wouldn’t read my Mediasonic enclosure that contains four 4tb drives…it saw, loaded and played everything on all four to perfection. The only problem I have is with my external Orico hard drive cradle…it looks like the Vero is loading the drive and then…nothing…checked the drives…I have 3 I swap into it…they are fine…swapped cables with the identical cradle on my PC…even swapped the actual cradle…Vero doesn’t load the drive…any thoughts ?
So you’re saying it works with just one disc but not with three?
Can you ssh into Vero and post the output of lsblk?
It works fine with the enclosure…all 4 drives…its just any drive in the cradle isn’t seen…the cradle and the various drives I stick in it works fine on my PC and was seen just fine on my Wetek Core and my Popcorn Hour Vten…I don’t know what ssh is, nor do I care to…

Yes, Sam…the cradle is powered…the enclosure and the cradle are both usb3 powered devices…Im new to Vero so uploading logs is something I’ve never done before, so it might take some time…the enclosure is a Mediasonic HF2-SU3S2…thats working just fine…the cradle is an Orico 6619 Series…https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Drive-Docking-Station-Supports/dp/B00CE65C4W Thanx for the quick reply !
Just reading over this. Correct me if I’m wrong.
You have two cradles
One works, one doesn’t.
If you take a drive from the known working cradle it doesn’t work in the non working cradle.
When you say it looks like the Vero is loading the drive, can you elaborate? It may be that the 2nd cradle doesn’t have enough power to spin up the drives.

I have 2 Orico cradles…the Vero wont load anything in either of them…strange because every other device sees them just fine…
Just go to MyOSMC and upload logs from there (share the URL displayed), should be the easiest.
While if you need to do more troubleshooting it might make sense to get SSH access to OSMC
Just for fun i plugged a couple of those small notebook type external drives and a few usb sticks in and it saw them just fine…just has me baffled about the cradle…
Taking a look now.
I have a NexStar that is very similar. In order to make it work correctly with pretty much any OS, I need to plug the USB cable into the host computer, insert the drive, then power turn on power to the cradle. If the cradle is powered when I plug it in to the computer, then insert a drive, it often doesn’t get seen.
Your logs do show that a USB disk is attached:

This will tell us what partitions are on the disk. It looks like there are two, but the logs don’t show what kind they are.

Can you clarify as to which disks are missing?
If you reboot it makes the logs cleaner – would be great if you can reboot, attach a cradle that doesn’t appear at all, and submit a new log.
Can you also elaborate when you said you think the Vero is loading the drive? Does it sound like the disks are spinning up?

Sam…the usual function of the Orico is when you power it on the light will flash red as in the disc is being accessed and then turn blue when it is loaded…this procedure is happening, just the drive doesn’t show. And every drive I tried has just one partition…this is confirmed my plugging the drives into the PC and running partition magic…I have seen multiple partitions cause problems on other machines…let me upload a new log without the four drive enclosure being attached…mkvone through four are just fine…

What’s the Filesystem on them. Do they have a proper label?
They are NTFS like all the drives I tried…and yes, they are labeled…and checked for errors today and on a regular basis…I think my existence revolves on a hard drive !

Again, when the device is plugged in, try the following command:
fdisk -l /dev/sda
This will tell us more about the partitions on the disk. We can already see that there is a primary partition (sda1) that acts as a container for logical partitions (sda5), but it would be nice to know what partition type the system is seeing.
Sorry…I have absolutely no idea how or where to type commands…I dont type much and certainly not that way…i just need my cradle to work or be advised on which one will work…if a cradle doesn’t work, this device is pretty much useless to me…
We’re trying to make it work for you but you are going to have to step out of your comfort zone just a smidge to help us do that since none of us are going to go out and buy a cradle. Here are the instructions for accessing the command line.
