Newbie questions usb DVD/BR player?

Hi,

Here’s another stupid question :smile: Can I attach an usb Blue Ray device to the RPi in order to play a movie not ripped yet ? (or any music CD…)
I read this topic Play DVDs on OSMC - #4 by DBMandrake
But not clear to me.

And,

Is there a way to directly get the DVD/BR/CD ripped this way ?

I can only speak for CDs and non-BlueRay DVDs.
These can be played, and the audio CDs can be ripped (or, at least, there is a menu item to do this) - I haven’t tried the rip operation
