Newest update installed, pi will not play movies anymore

After installing the newest kodi update, the skin changed ( I can handle that) also, I can go through all the steps to start watching a tv show or movie, including selecting a source. The sad face appears just when you think the movie is about to play. How can I either remove the update or repair the update. I have a keyboard connected to the pi
