Hi
I just got yesterday my Vero V and did the initial setup and did updates via the “My OSMC” menu.
after restarts I checked the systeminfo which I think can be seen in the “System” menu (not sure right now), and it states that kernel 4.9.xxx is used.
Shouldnt there at least some kerne 5.xx be in use as 4.9 should be EOL already Linux Kernel | endoflife.date
Also which debian version is currently as base used? I thought debian12 already uses kernel 6.xx
Today after work i might try to connect via ssh and do some checks there
aside from this, the vero v works flawlessly for now
This was discussed to death recently.
TL;DR that is the correct kernel for OSMC for now. An update to a newer kernel is coming later.
I love my Vero 4K+, thanks for everything.
The current stable software comes with Linux 4.9.269-21-osmc.
Linux 4.9 has been end-of-life since January :
Note, [4.9.337] is the LAST 4.9.y kernel to be released.
This kernel is now END-OF-LIFE and you should move to 4.14.y at the least, 6.1.y is the better option.
Is there a timeline/ETA for a supported Linux kernel on Vero 4K+?
Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Thx for the info, I didn’t know that vero4k+ and vero v have the same base.
Yes, but 4K/4K+ will be EOL in the near future and we will move forwards.
