OSMC Alpha 3 lands!

Just installed alpha 3 … when I hadn’t changed any settings ‘osmc settings’ worked with the default skin.
But now that I copied my settings over … it doesn’t work anymore :worried:
Not with the default skin … nor the amber skin

Got any ideas, getting no error nothing … just nothing happens?

Trying to install OSMC on NFS with the mac installer.
When the installer asks for NFS path i type this:

192.168.0.4:/volume1/Misc/OSMC

When I insert the SD card in the PI, it won’t install “can’t mount root”.
What am I doing wrong?

I haven´t tested NFS install myself and I don´t know if there are any current issues, but I believe your path is wrong.
Try:

192.168.0.4://volume1/Misc/OSMC

Note the double slash after the colon.

I would recommend you upgrade to Alpha 3 from a fresh install for now, we’re still working out a smooth upgrade path.

So far so good. I have an RPi+Alpha3, up running. Getting used to the menu system.
ssh worked. Exiting OSMC expecting a shell did not seem to work, appeared to restart osmc.
Couldnt find teh screen calibration, I’ll look further.
I configured(took defaults)/enabled tvheadend, it complained that tvheadend service wasnt running as expected.
I couldnt find a way of starting tvheadend, resorted to ssh (systemctl tvheadend start) that seemed to work.
Used apt-get update, apt-get install hdhomerun, all worked. Manually modprobed the dvb_hdhomerun.ko and hdhomerun-config now sees the HDHR. tvheadend doesnt have any adapters, I cannot find userhdhomerun so I imagine thats the issue. (I think its missing from Deb-Jessie (maybe only arm)).
Will there be a tvheadend “service” from the gui and will the dvb_hdhomerun package get fixed with the user app/service?. Oh, the mcs7830.ko and ax88179_178a.ko modules seem to load/work.

How did you install TVHeadend? For now it can be loaded with

sudo apt-get install rbp-tvheadend-app-osmc

I haven’t included userland hdhomerun, if you can point me in the right direction I’ll see how viable it is to add support

I installed Alpha 3, all installation went fine, SD card + wifi.

It will take me time to get used to new menu. I have three notes on menu

  • in many places it does not cycle around (sorry, don’t know the proper term), when I am on top, I would like ot use arrow up to get to the last item
  • basic menu needs vertical scrolling, but for example list of episodes in Project Free TV needs horizontal scrolling (in confulence it is vertical)
  • in some menus there were highlighted text using blue color, which is quite unreadable

I also encountered a problem mentioned somewhere else, video calibration does not show arrow when I am supposed to move it, it shows the other arrow. For example, when I am to move upper left arrow, I don’t see it, I see only bottom right arrow. When I press Enter, I see upper left, I see where it was moved while invisible and I don’t see bottom right which I am just adjusting.

I see 10 updates available, I select install, it restarts and then I see 10 updates available again. But I suppose it is just Alpha.

Other than that, no major problems, system is responsive and looks nice. Maybe current time could be a little bit bigger font.

And the mouse cursor a bit smaller?
