Is that working with HDR also?
I tried various movies with HDR and they worked.
If you want I can upload a short clip of a movie playing
Yeah, that would be a cool way to persuade my wife!
I uploaded two clips onto my cloud. The links are valid until end of March.
(Just download them onto your device, streaming the 4k mp4 isn’t something my cloud likes alot )
Maybe they’re not the best because I still try to improve my settings

I just finished my new LED rig which I’m quite proud about
Hi,
Not wanting to underplay your efforts but the results seemed a bit underwhelming. I was expecting a more profound effect from the leds but it seems a bit muted. Is this something you have tuned for your particular set up?
Not sure, but by the looks of it quintz mounted the strip inside those white rails.
(Which looks pretty darn neat btw )
I went for the APA102 strip ant put the self adhesive strip straight on the tv.
Very bright.
Another difference is the distance to the wall. quintz’ tv is pretty close to the wall by the looks of it.
Mine about 30cm (1 foot).
A big difference imho.
Indeed; I think the effect is limited because of it. I’ve still got my (5yo?) 100-LED (WS2801) setup which almost lights up the entire back-wall
Only from the side it doesn’t look as neat as the strip (you see my frame with the LED’s). I guess it’s a matter of taste. I kinda like that my entire back-wall lights up. And my wife didn’t complain about the looks so I never bothered making it more neat.
For the next TV I will probably get an APA102 strip and tape it to the back of the TV. That will also limit the side-ways exposure.
That was going to be my next question as my TV is probably about 40cm from the wall so I had assumed that the effect would be reduced but this seems not to be the case from your response.
Can I be cheeky and if anyone from the UK has bought the bits and pieces, could you tell me what and where from?
This is my shopping list :
Teensy 3.2 LINK
Ledstrip E-Bay LINK
PSU E-Bay LINK
I was all done for just under €60,-
I have placed a switch on the 240v side of the psu for two reasons. Never trust an Ebay psu and secondly I wanted to be able to switch off hyperion since the misses doesn’t feel the need to use it
Cheers Numiah - that’s really helpful. How many LEDs per metre is it suggested we use?
Also is there any increased load on the vero when running this as my mem usage is already quite high?
I went for 60Leds per meter and found it more than sufficient.
At full power they are very bright.
There are a gazillion things you can tweak in the Hyperion software.
A steep learning curve, but doable for sure.
I never noticed any difference on behavior on the Vero.
I use two, a 4K and a 4K+. Both run Hyperion without any issues.
I should have said, I have a 55" set so guess that amount of LEDs will do nicely.
Cheers.
As the others said, it’s a matter of taste.
I prefer my tv next to the wall and I love the “extension” the lights create
My LEDs are mounten with a 45 ° angle inside the alluminum frame
(LED Alu Profil KUBIK mit 45° Grad Abstrahlwinkel,).
As for LEDs I went for the neopixel from adalight, 60 LEDs/m.
Hello.
i try to install hyperion on vero 4k+ but on any manual i tried i got errors. a i am a very beginner so i want to ask if there is any step by step manual with all ssh comands?
What errors did you get?
You could try my installer.
sudo apt-get install git
git clone https://github.com/hissingshark/hyperion-vero4k.git
cd hyperion-vero4k
sudo ./install.sh
Select “Install from binary”
Then afterwards you start the server with:
sudo systemctl start hyperion
Visit the built-in Web GUI your.server.ip.address:8090 to configure.
Hopefully that should get you started.
i get this when i try the installer from @hissingshark
sudo apt-get install git

You might want to run ‘apt --fix-broken install’ to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
git : Depends: libcurl3-gnutls (>= 7.16.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: liberror-perl but it is not going to be installed
Depends: git-man (> 1:2.11.0) but it is not going to be installed

E: Unmet dependencies. Try ‘apt --fix-broken install’ with no packages (or specify a solution).
osmc@osmc:~$ git clone GitHub - hissingshark/hyperion-vero4k: Automated build and default install of Hyperion.ng on the Vero4K (OSMC)
-bash: git: command not found
osmc@osmc:~$ cd hyperion-vero4k
-bash: cd: hyperion-vero4k: No such file or directory
osmc@osmc:~$ sudo ./install.sh
It looks like you tried to install some packages for Raspberry Pi.
These need to be removed first.
i did reinstall osmc and tried the installer from hissingshark with this message:
osmc@osmc:~$ sudo apt-get install git
