We don’t use GRUB etc on embedded.
Here’s a new animation in 2 different versions:
OSMC Animation 6A (10sec)

I’m with @angry.sardine on this one, generally I’d like to keep the boot as quick and simple as possible (so no animation needed), but it would be also nice to optionally toggle a short animation, that apart of looking cool it could be used as a soundcheck.
And actually, I’d like to also have a 3rd ‘diagnostic’ option that goes in the other direction, keeping OSMC in text mode during boot, to have the possibility to check that all background services are starting correctly.

If a systemd service fails on boot, you’ll see it as it will overwrite the splash screen.
