OSMC usb dongle with linux vmware

Hi guys,

Im trying to setup a tvheadend server in a linux virtual machine.
I’ve tried several installs and I can’ get the device to be correctly working.
Once I’ve managed to find it but only in DVB-T. I need DVB-C.

Which version of linux should I try?

Hi The device is intended to run on OSMC specifically and we cannot guarantee support for other platforms. I’m guessing Raspbian Buster is using a 4.19 kernel. I could send you a patch if you are comforting with compiling your own kernel. When we support Pi4, it will be supported out of the box on OSMC. Cheers Sam

I’ve tried several virtual machines.
Ubuntu server with kernel 5.4.0-77
Debian with 4.9.0-13.
Which version can I use to have DVB-C?

The DVB-C adapter will show up as Panasonic or Sony, depending on the model.
The 5.4 kernel has everything you need for either adapter, but you may need to make sure that your kernel has the necessary configuration options enabled.
