OSMC with KODI Krypton?

Seems not trival without knowing what has been done

Try to run dpkg -l | paste-log an post the URL

Meanwhile I did:
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Now the result was:

osmc@osmc:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required: libjasper1 Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove it. Done The following packages will be upgraded: rbp2-mediacenter-osmc 1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 0 B/39.0 MB of archives. After this operation, 16.5 MB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] (Reading database ... 25291 files and directories currently installed.) Setting up rbp2-mediacenter-osmc (17.0.0-2) ... osmc@osmc:~$
Note that there were warnings but no outright errors.
Then I ran the dpkg command:

osmc@osmc:~$ dpkg -l | paste-log http://paste.osmc.io/adanoxejuy
Could I start Kodi manually now in some way or do I have to reboot the system? There was no such request in the dist-upgrade processing.

I think reboot would be best give it a try.

Thanks,
KODI 17.0 started. It is now asking me to wait while add-ons are migrated. :grinning:

Edit 10 min later:
It is still going on, i.e. the same message is on screen but there is no activity indicator whatsoever.
How long can this be expected to last?

Depending on the amount of addons you have. Would wait another 10 minutes and the just run

sudo systemctl stop mediacenter
sudo systemctl start mediacenter

Now I have had some afternoon tea and then returned to see that it is still doing something…
I was wrong saying there is no indicator, actually the three periods after the word “wait” are blinking on/off at a slow pace. Hard to see but now I found them at least.
So it is not hung, unless a daemon started by the update process is handling the periods all by itself of course…

I wonder what is going on that takes this long?

Shouldn’t take that long. Try the stop/start

you could always scrap your .kodi dir and reinstall addons etc

There is no official downgrade path from v18 to v17. This will give you problems later.

I stopped and started the mediacenter, so I could reach the main screen. It worked.
Unfortunately it looks like my media is no longer recognized, was the database hosed so I must rescan the whole thing? Or was that what was interrupted when I stopped it?

If so how can I set the next unviewed episode of HouseOfCards?

How does this affect this discussion?
I installed the upgrade to 17 from 16.1

This is why sam responded as so.

You ran a really early Krypton beta which used external DVD libraries for playback at build time.

You need to update to remove the libdvd packages to proceed. Alternatively you could up date to a more recent Krypton test build before updating to final

OK,
I am not really sure how to do these steps…
Do I sudo apt-get remove mediacenter
and then sudo apt-get install mediacenter
or is there another way? (Or this will not work?)

I am packing up for a business trip tomorrow so if I could fix the issue tonight would be good, otherwise it will have to rest until Saturday…

Kodi 17 seems to work partly, but not the VIAPLAY add-on and the scraping seems to have been lost.

Having issues updateing rpi to v17. when sudo apt-get update, following error appears.

Any ideas?

guessing that one of the mirror are down when you try and update.

you could try this

 cd /var/lib/apt
 sudo mv lists lists.old
 sudo mkdir -p lists/partial
 sudo apt-get update

The mirrors are not down.

Just try checking for updates again, and check you can connect to http://apt.osmc.tv.

Tried your suggeston

Still won’t update?

Can we see grab-logs -a?
