OSMC's March update is here with Kodi v21.2 and Dolby Vision support - OSMC

I suggest starting a new thread with logs so we can see what the issue is

Sam

Thanks Sam. Just done so, with logs.

Thanks.

Excited to try… are there any recommend demo files to download to try out DV functionality on OSMC V?

Apparently it was this post announcing the end of support for my Vero 4k+ and the adding of support for DV to the Vero V that was the incentive I needed to upgrade to a Vero V after 5+ years running a Vero 4k+. Order placed with £10 discount.

The couple of hours of research I had to do to determine if my LG C8 would support the Vero V playing TV led DV was too long, it should have been a 5 minute search, and even now I’m not quite 100% sure I got it right that it does. The only question I still have is whether the Vero V can play DV profile 5/7/8.1 files in MKV containers, guess I’ll find out when it arrives.

That will be fine. Just make sure your device is up to date once you get it as the software changes are new.

I will be imaging devices with the latest software shortly.

We haven’t yet come across any LGs that don’t do Standard DV. If you post the output of cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/rawedid we can put your mind at rest.

Thanks for the offer. I think all I need was the pointer on where to look.

Decoded it myself and I think…

Vendor-Specific Video Data Block (Dolby), OUI 00-D0-46:
    Version: 1 (12 bytes)
    Supports 2160p60
    DM Version: 3.x
    Colorimetry: P3-D65
Low Latency: Standard + Low Latency
    Target Min Luminance: 0.00006200 cd/m^2
    Target Max Luminance: 700 cd/m^2

If I’m understanding it correctly it does.

I get this:

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

I decoded mine myself here https://people.freedesktop.org/~imirkin/edid-decode/
Look under Vendor-Specific Video Data Block (Dolby)

Thanks for this. I get:

Vendor-Specific Video Data Block (Dolby), OUI 00-D0-46:
Version: 2 (12 bytes)
DM Version: 3.x
Backlt Min Luma: 100 cd/m^2
Interface: Low-Latency
Supports 10b 12b 444: Not supported

So this means it’s low latency only and thus no DV with Vero V on my set I guess…

That’s how I’d interpret it, although you should wait for @grahamh to confirm rather than rely on someone who googled this thing less than an hour ago.

All correct. @Perza is out of luck.

Im a bit late to this party, but is this true DV support? As the last time I looked in, I seem to recall there was some colour re-mapping being done as a substitute for DV.

Rather than the Vero V route after the 4K, I ended up getting a shield, and whilst this has supported DV generally without any issues, I’ve always felt even the Vero 4K had better performance and just generally felt more rock solid and stable. Im keen to swap back I think.

Yes.

The timezone issue reported in 21.1 update is back:

Thanks. I’ll need to check that again.

Yes, I have that too. After video ends there is like 4secs of black screen until I can see Kodi interface. All settings regarding changing fps are off, so idk why this happening. My previous Vero4K didnt do that.

How long have you guys had your devices?
Is this after a new update or since ownership?

Same display?

I have my VeroV just for few days, bought it brand new. I have set it up just like I had my Vero4K before, and did OSMC update. All other things (cables, TV, AVR) remains the same. I am suspecting latest Kodi/OSMC version is doing this. Thats only one thing my previous Vero4K didnt have, because it became EOL in january 2025.
