pi3 and 64bit

English is not my mother tongue - but let me try to ask…

Ok - Pi3 is reality now.
Advertising and marketing are pointing out “64bit”

OSMC is running, Pi3 is quicker. So far - all fine.

But the Question for me is :
Will there be a “real” 64bit Version of Software/Kernel/Firmware with PXE and Harddisk Boot
in the near future ?

Or is the effort to develop an Image for 64 bit Pi3 Hardware too large and benefit too low ?
Or just marketing to sell ?

Please do not misunderstood my question; I am interested in : How do developers think about it - is it “needed” or “nice to have” or “forget it” ?

and …
anticipation is the most beautiful delight…
