What is happening:
After yesterday’s update When trying to play a video. Video never starts and screen goes blank. Stopping also keeps the screen blank.
Navigating seems to work, because using the remote and moving to the next video (With blank screen) I can start another video. And that video works.
The errors I noticed are on the log of kodi posted above.
OSMC is running on vero4k+
OSMC Version March 2020 2020.03-1
Running debug logging, will post once happens again. Seems pretty random.
This sounds very similar to what I’ve been reporting in another thread. Immediately on installing the March OSMC, I noticed random blank screen events upon start/stop of playback. At first I thought the system had crashed, after a while I came to realise that as far as Kodi is concerned, playback seems to be in progress, albeit with a blank screen and no sound. I have found that switching input on my AVR (Marantz NR1603) away from the Vero, and then back, recovers the display. The pattern is a bit random. Sometimes when I do a warm re-boot the Vero will boot through to the Kodi GUI, other times it will get to the blue OSMC screen and then go blank. The precise sequence of stop/start events to cause a blank screen also appears random.
I just connected an OSMC Pi running the March version to my Marantz AVR and there were no blank screen issues at all, so the problem is specific to the Vero+March combo.
Just found out I have the same problem…its fine when connected to the tv directly, but when connected to my 2012 Pioneer receiver I get the blank video from time to time…does the same input switching you describe. I have CEC turned off on the Vero+…personally I hate having any machine think it can control my desires !
I experienced the same issue with my Vero 4k + on my Denon x2000.
Sometimes (often after the Vero was on standby) the file I want to play gives me a black screen. Sometimes I can go back with pressing the return key 2 times and try again to play. On second try it works usually. But sometimes the Vero does not respond at all and I have to cut power to bring it back. I hope you can help.
If you have not tried this, for me switching the input on my Marantz AVR away from the Vero and then back again recovers the display. In my case the Vero is not actually unresponsive, but because the screen sometimes goes blank on start or stop of playback, that’s the obvious conclusion when it first happens, so you might be able to avoid pulling the power.
