Hi … sorry to say, but I’m angry as hell. I have titanmod as a skin, and was working nicely on Kodi 20. Every now and then the vero would ask me to update to the latest version … and I said no thank you.
Did so again 10min ago … but what did it do … it updated.
Now my skin ain’t working … and I even can’t get anything installed cause I’m getting “failed to install a dependency”.
I took the plunge and did a rename of my .kodi folder to start fresh.
I installed the repo for the skin … but still can’t install anything cause I’m getting failed to install dependency".
Why would the Vero update when I explicitly clicked on no.
This post explains how to fix your skin.
This is programmatically impossible.
That’s what I would think as well … but it happened. Cause I take my time before clicking to make sure I click right.
Anyways … like you said, doing the dependencies manually worked. had to go through 33 of them …but all good (so far)
Thank you for the quick reply & solution. I know , first world problems, but I took 2hours or so tuning my look & feel last time … not happy to have to do it again now … but at least I can … so thank you
Hi,
This is not possible. I’ve made sure that this is the case and despite many users asking us to have an automatic update system, I’ve always refused, particularly for reasons like this. You’d never know what broke what and when.
I’m terribly sorry to hear that you have had a problem updating.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Titan Mod skin. Is it part of Kodi’s repository officially? If it isn’t, I’m wondering if you need to change your settings to allow updating of add-ons from ‘all’ repositories instead of just official repositories.
Without a log, it’s hard to advise what’s gone on here, but I am keen to get this solved for users present and future.
I’m catching a flight in a few hours but if you’d like to have a phone call about this in the next day or so I’d be much obliged
Cheers
Sam
Took me 3hours, but all is well again and back to being a happy customer 1 question that I don’t know … before when I put the TV/AVR off, the Vero went into standby and LED turned nicely blue.
I just turned everything off, but the Vero doesn’t seem to go into standy. I know the power consumption is very low … but did you change the standard settings that it doesn’t go into standby anymore ? I checked under the CEC settings. Only thing I saw was under “turn off TV” it said ignore, instead of sleep or slumber (not sure what the difference is) ?
Is there a screenshot anyone could post on the CEC settings to have it go back in standby ? I presume in the end it’s better for the durability of the Vero as well ?
If you installed the skin from a third party repository, then it may be the case that you need to set the following:
- Go to Settings → Add-ons Enable Unknown Sources
- Change update official add-ons from (Official repositories only (default) to Any repositories to ensure that you receive future updates
I did, but only for new installs – because people were getting frustrated with this behaviour.
It can easily be reverted under CEC Settings. You could put it back to ‘Sleep’
Won’t make a difference. They are built to last
It’s not no, it’s on a different repo. But I don’t think the “all repositories” thing is it. I usually have a go with skins on my windows PC here before I play on the Vero, and with standard settings on Windows (just putting “allow installation from unknown sources” on) it worked fine. Installed the skin since kodi V17 on the Vero 4k and later the Vero V. In the end, as said, it worked with installing dependencies 1by1
A lot has changed since Kodi v17. You need to make sure you’re allowing updates from all repositories.
Without a log, it’s hard to advise.
This should definitely not be necessary.
Good to hear, had a feeling you did it … since I saw a long thread about people with the LED being too bright or whatever Everyone their personal choice.
So under the what to do when TV goes off … instead of ignore choose sleep again … check… I’ll try that tomorrow. Do you know the difference between the options sleep/slumber though ? Just curious.
Again, thank you for being very fast & active on this board … even with stupid questions like mine Enjoy your flight !
As said, all good now … but if I come across other addons not installing due to it, i’ll reboot and make some fresh logs to check out. For now, I’m going to bed
Yes – but only for new installs; not updates. With that said, the change was made a while ago and newer orders will see those changes propagated.
From the top of my head that is the correct answer, if it isn’t, I can check what the setting was before and advise.
No clue. But there’s only one way to find out
The way settings are configured in Kodi on a programmatic level is a bit different, so I don’t remember the text values but have had some sane numeric defaults for a few years.
Cheers. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, but if you don’t ask, you could make a stupid mistake.
As always, if you have any questions, you know where to find us.
