Recommended Settings

OK, plugged in my new Vero 4k to my LG OLED HD TV, really just to watch movies from my NAS via NFS over wired ethernet.

Given this, are there any settings that are recommended to change from the Defaults ?

Also, any recommended add-ons to improve the experience?

Thanks

Phil

I have a very similar setup.
I had to add

    <cache>
       <buffermode>1</buffermode> <!-- Default is 1 -->
       <memorysize>90000000</memorysize> <!-- Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB -->
       <readfactor>10.0</readfactor> <!-- Default is 1.0 -->
    </cache>

to be able to playback high encoded Vinyle flac files. When I’m lazy in the evening, I tend to not stand up to change the Vinlye disks - that’s when I just fire up the Vero 4k playback :wink:
Without it, I had some audio drop-outs.
Didn’t have any issues with Video/movies though.
Note that I have a very decent 1Gbps network (actually, I can really transfer 980Mbps of data in both directions).
And the NAS is connectd with 2x1Gbps in bond configuration.

Yeah i have a very similar setting

i also just used the advancedsettings but set my Buffer to 500MB
and the readfactor to 4 because 1 means 36Mbit/s and 4 means 144Mbit and as the vero4k just has a 100Mbit Lan i don’t need to set it up to 10 which means 360Mbit/s

buffermode 1
memorysize 524288000
readfactor 4

So i am fine event with the 50GB 4K movies, and i never got buffering.

All my files are on NAS

As I am newbie on this - how do I make these setting changes ?

See this: http://kodi.wiki/view/advancedsettings.xml

And on how to access command line, see here:

I would say just enable adjust refresh rate and configure your audio properly
