I am getting a red cross every other day. I have the latest firmware installed and really have no idea why it is happening. This is week 2 of the red cross.

When you see the red cross is the Vero still reachable on your network (Ping or SSH)?
destination host unreachable.
Could be an overheating issue or a power supply issue.
If it happens quite regular as a first step I would open a SSH session from another device and watch the temperature till the red led goes on with watch cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp
It could also be a CEC setting to shut down the device.

Ok, could be a heat issue. So suggest to do the SSH approach to monitor the temperature as I suggested above
I used putty and I see 61000 and 62000. Is this value 62F?

Thats 61/62c that is totally fine. So you also saw that when it crashed?
Otherwise keep that window open till it crashes to see if temp goes above 110c

osmc when I did the testing.
I should add that I started monitoring 5 hours ago and crashed about an hour ago. I am playing a movie right now and it is at 66F.
Is there a particular condition where it crashes/heats up; Idle, playing a particular type of media, ???
It crashes when it is idle, I have not experienced any crashes playing a movie.

A library scan starts at 18:40:36. At 18:40:39 has a warning accessing a directory. And then at 08:21:47 the same warning. The scan never was logged as being finished, until 08:22:15. It looks to me like something is starting a library scan while a scan is already running?

You might try with a fresh .kodi directory to rule out any addon/configuration issues.
If you turned on debug logging and let it idle that may give a clue as to what happening during idle.
Is this the same debug logging that I pasted earlier or do I need to change something in Kodi to create new log?

Do what @darwindesign suggested and leave debug logging on until the overheat happens again.
