Remote not working after November 3 update

I have made a debug log:
https://paste.osmc.tv/qihabariwa

While making the debug log i tried to repair the osmc remote, but it didn’t work out. Instead I got a CEC error message and the LG TV remote did not work anymore to control the vero v…after cold restarting the vero v by unplugging the power resolved this issue and the LG TV remote works again via CEC to control the Vero V

If you’ve been away for a while, you may just need to re-pair the remote. After a significant period of inactivity the remote will unpair to save power.

Hold the Home and OK buttons on the remote for 5 seconds.

Sam

The remote was still paired, since it still worked to toggle between yes and no and then clicking OK to start the update process on the screen with the available update notification.

However re-pairing does not work. Pressing Home and OK button results in continous glowing of the blue led in the remote controll. However nothing happens. So the problem is probably, that the reveicer within the Vero V does not initialise and/or work properly after the update. Hence something went wrong with the update.

Does the debug log provided, shed some light where the problem could be?

Edit: Nothing was connected to the external usb-ports, no remote receiver, no usb-drive, hdd, ssd; just the lan, hdmi and power plug were connected to the Vero V.

This is exactly my situation. The bundled remote worked fine for months including just before the update and allowed selection of the install. Immediately afterwards it no longer controlled the system. I find it unlikely that this is not an update or software issue. I still do not have a solution.

My understanding is you contacted support for a replacement dongle. I will issue that this week.

If you believe it’s a software issue you can install a previous version of OSMC, but I haven’t changed anything regarding the remote since the device was released.

If something had changed in that area then I would expect no one’s remote to work.

Thanks. I don’t think it is the Vero software itself. I think the update process overwrote or damaged something during the update. But that is just a guess based on the timing of the failure. I will see what happens when I get the replacement dongle. Thanks again.

It doesn’t really work that way. As your device is out of warranty, you could open the box and try the USB on another port on the Vero or a computer itself. I would be curious what the result is. You’d need to take some care opening the case with regards to the antenna wires.

Also if someone could PM me some SSH details that would be useful as there’s a couple of things I’d like to check

Hi sam,

have you had any response to this?

if not i can set up some port forwarding later so you can ssh into my vero v that has the same issue

alternatively if you think it has any merit id be willing to reinstall from an older version just to verify it makes no difference but that would have to wait till tonight at the earliest

I haven’t

I’m not – but you could always try it.

It’s just a hunch, but I have an idea why the problem could have occurred suddenly after this update. I am assuming that everyone here has another USB device connected however.

I’ve pushed an updated bootloader which may resolve this problem. It certainly won’t make things worse.

You can go to My OSMC → Updates → Manual Controls → Check for Updates now to grab it.

I suggest a cold boot after applying the change, but it may not be necessary. If there are still issues, please post a log so I can see if the updated applied correctly.

Edit: Although the more I think about it, if it’s the issue I think it is, then simply installing the August version again and not updating should have made the remote function again…

No joy for me. My logs are available at https://paste.osmc.tv/tesaxafezi

Thanks for staying on it.

Can’t see it being software related then.

OK. I’d be happy to try anything else to get it working again. Thanks.
