Setting Up OSMC PVR

I purchased a DVB-T2/DVB-C TV dongle from the OSMC store last week.
After a lot of searching I am struggling with setting up TVheadend on a Vero 4k.

Firstly which of the DVB-T adapters do I enable out of
Sony CXD2837ER
Realtek RTL2832?

Secondly with the Realtek adapter enabled I appear to get a full EPG in TVheadend,
but the channels are all {name-not-set} leading, I think, to TVheadend HTSP Client showing nothing on the Vero.
Somewhat frustratingly this is not consistent.
Once the Vero showed a fairly full EPG, but without any ITV channels.
Another time it showed only 6 services.
I am using the Rowridge transmitter which the adapter appears to receive a strong (over 97%) signal.

Help would be appreciated.

Some answers are here:

Note that if you have enabled the Realtek tuner you will have to wipe some of ~/hts then enable just the Sony to get the DVB-T2 channels. Some of the frequencies for UK transmitters are out of date. IIRC a full scan will fix that but if not, please screenshot the DVB inputs->Muxes page of the Webui.

I have studied the guide to try and find some answers.
I am not sure how “to wipe some of ~/hts” .
I followed “See post 3 below” as shown in the PuTTY window.
And enabled only the Sony to get DVB-T2 as in the requested screenshot attached.
No change on the Vero TV.

So you can play channels OK but have an issue with the EPG?

Make sure the Freeview EPG grabber is enabled and the timeout is at least 5 minutes.

You can also use this online EPG: GitHub - dp247/Freeview-EPG: Open source XMLTV data for UK free-to-air TV channels and radio stations.

The PVR client shows nothing on the Vero.
I have the OTA Freeview EPG enabled (as well as EIT and PSSIP).
Should I “Force initial EPG grab at start-up” for the OTA grabbers?
How do I use the online EPG?

Force initial EPG grab made no difference.
TVheadend appears to have a full EPG, but I cannot play anything.
Because Channel Name not set?

Did you map all your services to channels?

If you use the wizard it’s usually the easiest way to set things up

I have lost count of the times I have used the wizard!
When I map services to channels the service mapper returns mapped and ignored as zero.
I keep coming back the channel name not being set in the TVheadend EPG, which otherwise appears ok.
Is this down to the transmitter mux not broadcasting something or the DVB-T not decoding something.
IIRC the first time I ran the wizard I selected the Realtek adapter with some success.
I currently have only the Sony DVB-T enabled.

I have just rerun the wizard and enabled the Realtek and Sony DVB-T adapters.
Some success TVheadend shows 12 muxes and 67 services found.
44 channels listed by TVheadend HTSP Client, but no programme information on the Vero.
TVheadend on my PC is littered with channel name not set, but some with a service name.
TVheadend EPG has programme information.

Re-enabling TVheadend HTSP Client on the Vero brought up a lot of programme information, but not all.
Some channels had information in the TVheadend EPG, but HTSP is not listing it.

Sorry you’re having issues with this. The first thing is, if you enable both adapters you will get problems. They are not designed to be run in parallel. Also, once you have enabled the Realtek, just disabling it isn’t enough to let the Sony work properly. This is explained in the Wiki I linked above. It also tells you how to fix things by deleting some of the ~/.hts directory.

Can you post a screenshot of the DVB Inputs->Muxes page as I asked before? I mean this one

If that doesn’t point us to a solution, then I suggest you start again from scratch by uninstalling TVH, deleting the entire .hts directory (important) and reinstalling TVH.

I tried again this morning and am getting HTSP reporting no signal.
Here is the screenshot.
I have tried reinstalling TVH several times.
I will try deleting .hts directory and starting from scratch again.
Thanks for your forbearance with this.

Deleting contents of the .hts directory and starting from scratch again enabling only the Sony CXD2837ER DVB-T adapter did the trick.
All appears to be working now.
I suggest a warning about the Realtek RTL2832 DVB-T is made more prominent.
Thanks for your help.

Done.
