Skipping 10s and pause issues since April update

I’ve been experiencing some issues since the April update relating to skip 10s forward/backwards and pausing. If I play a video and later pause it, skip backward doesn’t function. If I try to unpause the video the OSD appears with the elapsed time but the video does not resume. If I skip forward while paused the video sometimes unpauses on its own.

Thank you and all the best

P.S. A very minor detail. I see a mouse pointer appearing in the upper left screen after a reboot. It does disappear on its own so it’s not an issue, however, I don’t believe this happened before the April update.

I’m facing something similar since I updated a couple of days back.
Pressing the right or left button to skip forward/backward “pauses” the video and shows “buffering” but it stays that way. Have to stop and play the video again.
Never experienced this behavior before the update.

Hi all, I registered here to get some help. I see that I am not alone with this skipping forward/backward problem.
I had no problem prior to the latest update. I record TV programmes to a NAS. MediaInfo of a recording:

Interestingly, if I edit out sections of a recording (adverts) using VideoReDo, the saved edited recording plays and skips back and forth perfectly!
I would be very grateful if you could look into this.
Thanks.

Some logs, (full) MediaInfo output and a sample would help

Sam

Can you provide us a short clip that can be used to reproduce that issue?

How do I upload log files??

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

Is there anything more I can provide to help resolve this issue?

No, not now. My time is rather limited for the next two weeks, so don’t expect a quick solution.

I had a quick look today. I can reproduce that issue on my 4k+, but on my V it behaves as it should. So it’s something special to the 4k/4k+. In the logs I can see that the video player thread seems to stop working after pressing pause. I have no idea why. That needs to be debugged, but as I’ve mentioned above, it will take some time …

Thanks for your efforts. Is there a simple way to roll back to before the update?

Simple is a relative term but…

Well thanks for that - I think I’ll wait for the fix, though :grimacing:
I appreciate your effort in posting the walkthrough, and in the future I’ll make backups, but I don’t have time right now to do that.
Cheers

Hi here,
I have a similar issue on my Vero 4k since the april update.
When I pause a video, then I resume, nothing happens. I have to exit from the video, then run it again. But the time is not remembered, I have to move forward (if I know where I was!).
It seems random though, it didn’t happen every time (I’d say, once in two).
I didn’t have this issue before this update, everything was working before.
I will try to have logs (but I need to know how to do this before).
