Struggling to setup OSMC Remote Control

I bought the OSMC Remote Control, and I’m struggling to make it work in OSMC on my Pi 4. This is a fresh install of the latest OSMC (2021.08-1, Kodi 19.1).

I believe that the reciever is detected correctly, and the batteries are good in the remote, but I cannot get any of the buttons to do anything within OSMC.

I found in the “My OSMC” app a list of remotes. I enabled the one called osmc-remote-lircd, but this didn’t fix the remote for me.

The product description for the OSMC Remote says it should come with setup instructions, but mine did not. Are they available online?

Checking the remote and battery

When I push buttons on the remote I can see a blue light flash at the front of the remote. Additionally I tested the cell battery with a voltmeter. I think the remote and battery are good.

dmesg showing the reciever is recognised

When I plug in the reciever, I see dmesg output that confirms that the receiver is recognised:

Also, I’m a bit confused that the remote has a window at the front as if it was IR, but the product description from where I purchased it says it should be RF.

I wonder if I’ve accidentally been sent an IR remote. Is there a way to find out?

Have you seen this article?

The remote is RF. We don’t produce an IR remote.

It should work out of the box and doesn’t need any configuration and does not use LIRC.

If it’s not working, then I suggest pairing it as @JimKnopf suggested

Thank you so much! I didn’t even consider that it was a simple pairing issue.
