delete your .kodi folder in your home directory… seems like you all missed that comment too 
What and wait for days for it to resync artwork etc. for over 2000 films and 10000 tv episodes I think not! maybe you can shed some light on what specifically in the .kodi folder is at issue.

Help needed:
I updated the default OSMC with the commands in first posting. All works fine with no errors. But restarting the system. I get now first the OSMC start screen and than a sad smily. I checked the version with the command mentioned - and it’s the latest.
What can I do to find the error? Where can I find additional infos for you to inspect?
BTW. I also wanted to check if with OSMC and Kodi17 Amazon prime will work. Does I need additional installations like the ibssd_wv-lib or is it now integrated in OSMC as I read in an earlier post? Or do you suggest to use the ready to use LIBREelec from @Milhouse?

inputstream is included, so if you install the Widevine libs and one of the Prime add-ons, you should see success.
So is it just the libs in or is there any guides on installing widevine etc?

Please let us know if this resolves the issue with the crash on startup.
The crash on startup is fixed - at least at my fresh intallation. But I still have no luck on playing Amazon Prime videos.
Either I get the error “InputStream MPEG DASH: Could not open / parse mpdURL” when I don’t use the libssd_wv.so or I get the error “undefined symbol: EnableStreamAtPTS” when copying the library to ~/.kodi/cdm
It looks like you need libssd_wv.so and libwidevinecdm.so. This was taken from http://nmacleod.com/public/libreelec/getwidevine.sh (Milhouse’s website).
Do you have both libs?
If so – I’ll ping Milhouse and ask him what’s up.

I´ve been on LibreELEC since the boot loop crash on OSMC. LibreELEC is not as fast and smooth as OSMC is on RPI3.
I moved across as well…i’m impatient.
But Millhouse nightlies are awesome.
Chrikey, we only had broken builds for two days… 
Anyway, glad to hear everything is resolved now.
There are a few more inputsteam updates which will be included in the next nightly.
