[TESTING] Kodi 17 (Krypton) builds for Raspberry Pi (continued)

Latest solved the Sad Face loop for me too.

Cheers

Thanks for your hints. The installation is now working after new update :).

Quick question, Iā€™ve upgraded my OSMC to the latest Krypton test build 16.8-136, but one thing I canā€™t quite tell:
is there support for RetroPlayer in this build?
Otherwise itā€™s looking great so far

RetroPlayer is expected to come in v18, there will be nightlies with it after Krypton.

Thanks @sam_nazarko. I was hoping the Krypton test build had somehow incorporated some of the RetroPlayer builds (which you understandably put on pause). Iā€™m not sure why I thought that, given that RetroPlayer is currently another branch of Kodi and hasnā€™t been merged with the main branch.

Looking forward to seeing all of it (Krypton, RetroPlayer, etc.) come together! Thanks for your hard work

Iā€™ll update to the latest builds, to see if itā€™s there

It only works on the Raspberry or on the Vero too?

Regards

This thread is for Raspberry Pi.

We will produce nightlies for other platforms when Krypton progresses a little more.

Is it possible to get back to the release version of OSMC for example by editing out the addition to the file /etc/apt/sources.list and then doing a dist-upgrade?
Or is there an apt-get command that can undo my recent dist-upgrade?
I saw mention of commands like this a way up:

sudo apt-get install rbp2-mediacenter-osmc=16.8-134

Is there a number one can plug it that brings back the release version?

  1. Remove the repo
  2. sudo apt-get update
    3. sudo apt-cache show rbp2-mediacenter-osmc to determine the v16 version
    4.sudo apt-get install rbp2-mediacenter-osmc=16<version you determined>

Been covered plenty of times

Thanks!
When I execute this command I get two separate Version: lines:

Version: 16.8-141
and later:
Version: 16.1.0-16

I assume that I should use the first version code in the install command?
Like:

sudo apt-get install rbp2-mediacenter-osmc=16.8-141

No, 16.8 is the ā€œfakeā€ number that is used for v17 to make it work with the normal upgrade process.

if you want to go back to v16 the current version is 16.1.0-16

16.8 is used so when I release 17.0 proper, I will supersede gmcā€™s builds and anyone that was on one of his builds will be updated.
