Hello Everyone,

I followed all the steps above and now I’m getting continuously the Kodi sad face and having SSH access to my Pi2.

I did a grab-logs -A and logs may be found on https://paste.osmc.tv/pejuheqami

From what I was able to understand there’s a fatal error loading default skin:

EDIT: Kinda fix this:

Edit /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml
Replace line <setting id="lookandfeel.skin default = “true”> skin.osmc.v18alpha
with <setting id="lookandfeel.skin">skin.estuary</setting>

This was due to the skin being renamed which is now causing the sad face.
You will need to SSH in and run:

mv /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.osmc.v18alpha /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.osmc

Then start up mediacenter:

sudo systemctl start mediacenter

I know this is a beta, don’t worry Just wondering what the status is as there are more users with this problem and @gmc indicated it needs fixing before it can turn stable.

Ran into the same issue with the skin.osmc did the following to get things to work.

Modified
/usr/share/kodi/system/settings/settings.xml line 3160 from

<default>skin.osmc.v18alpha</default> to <default>skin.osmc</default>
and the same in /usr/share/kodi/system/settings/settings.xml line 3172

Modified /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml
<setting id="lookandfeel.skin" default="true">skin.osmc.v18alpha</setting> to
<setting id="lookandfeel.skin" default="true">skin.osmc</setting>

Moving the directory did not seem to work

It didn’t work me. I had to manually downgrade to mediacenter 17.8-407 and skin 17.9.3-36.

Same here. I have installed 17.8-414 and tried all the fixes mentioned here subsequently, but I could not get it running. I know how to downgrade the mediacenter, but how can I downgrade the skin???
