Hope it is still OK to ask some questions regarding latest GMC-18 updates? Already owned a Vero 4k which is still on 17.6 but received another Vero 4k+ yesterday and updated it to GMC-18 for testing:

  1. Both (17.6 as well as 18.1) have problems being woken up from suspend via Harmony activity. They go to suspend OK when being switched of but both do not wake up when started - although when sending the command manually afterwards both do in fact wake up. So it just does not seem to happen when all devices are just being started by the activity.

  2. On 18.1 (only) I have some DVD .iso files that do not play at all from an NFS mount. The screen goes black and kodi.log shows:

WARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: -1544.462060

While having an eye on kodi.log I saw that this also happens to TVHeadend streams sporadically being played in the form of:

WARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: -1005.016980
WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer
WARNING: Previous line repeats 2 times.
    NOTICE: CVideoPlayerAudio::Process - stream stalled

Are these known problems of 18.1 and is there any chance to fix them? Or will they just be fixed when 18.1 stable for OSMC is released?

@Qoopido Was it just a typo when you mentioned gmc-18? The latest is on gmc-19 now.

@eagerbeaver I know, but I would like to switch back to stable when it will be released and when switching to GMC-19 I thought this would not be possible. Am I wrong?

You’re correct. I’m just assuming the latest updates would be found in gmc-19.

well, tried these nightly builds. Assuming I did it the right way but not at all working. 4K movies are being decoded with software (badly), freezes, pauses, stops responding to the remote for a few seconds. AM hardware decoding is definitely on.

I notice the “my osmc” is still showing as being at the december update. Did something not get updated correctly?
Kodi itself is showing the correct build (26th march 2019).

A log is probably needed to debug this further

Sam

You can always re-install of course to go back to any release. The gmc-18 repo is not being updated nightly any more so you won’t see any fixes unless you go to gmc-19 or wait for the OSMC 18.1 release candidate.

OK, log is in here. Fixed the hardware not decoding by turning it off then back on again. I could not replicate movie screen freezes this time but had plenty of network streaming issues that were not there on 17.6.

Found the cause for my second problem above:

Activating any whitelist-resolution @25Hz causes that some of my DVD iso files (576p@25) will not play at all (just a black screen) with the above posted log output over and over again. Limiting the whitelisted resolutions to anything but 25Hz fixes this in my case which is not ideal, but OK.

Is/was this a known issue with the latest 18.1 nightly? Will it get addressed?

Quick question. Will the improvement/changes applied since change of sources to gmc-19 still be included in the next update? Or the succeeding update?

Which changes are you referring to?

All the changes after we switched to gmc-19. Example, the 18.8-13, 30 March 2019

All these changes are included. The only thing that’s changed is the version number.

Well that was a saga, about 10 days ago I was getting red light / crash on updating mediacenter-skin-osmc.

Purging, reinstalling, force removing the package were all no go and I was very close to doing a clean install.

Had to reinstall dpkg itself in the end and then reinstall the skin since I’d removed it, then update as normal.

I’d like to know how to go back to the stable 17.6. These dailys are causing me all sorts of strife. I posted a log a few posts back and no-one looked at it.
Network delays, subtitles are all out of sync, vero will not go into suspend, keeps telling me there is “no backup folder set” etc etc etc.

You will have to reinstall OSMC with the most recent image (December).

Not true. But no-one could discover what the issue is, it seems. You may well find reinstallation and again upgrading to Leia fixes the problems.
