I’m not able to update to newer nightly, when I start it from osmc menu Vero shuts down itself… Is that bug still present?

Are you on version 18.8-8?

I’m on 18.8-5, not possible to update through osmc utility

The bug was fixed in 18.8-8. To fix it you will need to disable mediacenter, reboot, update and then re-enable and start mediacenter.

Ok I’m gonna try that way thank you

Ok, I’m on 18.8-9

Great. You should be able to now update without disabling mediacenter.

How do I disable mediacenter? sudo systemctl disable mediacenter?

Yes and then reboot

Maybe I am wrong, but as I have noticed, Kodi v18.1 is finally released. Is there an OSMC Update in Progress? MY OSMC still says Version Dec 2018 is up to date (based on Kodi 17).

Thanks for short reply.

As I am let me say NEW to Raspberry or VERO “programming” maybe there is a short tutorial how to install any new kodi oder OSMC nightly onto my Vero 4k+ .

Any help or link would be great.

For how to install nightly’s check the first post of this thread: [TESTING] Kodi 18 (Leia) builds for Vero 2 & 4K

And stable osmc release with kodi 18.1 should be around the corner I know they are working on it full time right now but there are some issues that are delaying the update.

Thank you so far, I already read the first post, but as I said, I am new to “this” …
If I am sitting in front of my TV and have the VERO 4k online, where or what is the point to start for telling the VERO 4k the orders …where can I put my commands in ??

Where can I type these following commands??

Update apt source list to get the latest nightly:

Edit
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Then add
deb http://download.osmc.tv/dev/gmc-19/public gmc-19 main

Save and exit file.

Import gpg certificate:

wget -qO - http://download.osmc.tv/dev/gmc-19/public/pubkey.asc | sudo apt-key add -

Finally run update and dist-upgrade to install latest nightly.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Try these instructions:

https://osmc.tv/wiki/general/accessing-the-command-line/

Thank you I will try this…

After following all instructions
(sources.list edited and saved, gpg-Cert. imported by command line…says OK after a few seconds)
I get the following output after trying “sudo apt-get dist-upgrade”:

Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency treee
Reading state information… Done
Calculating upgrade… Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded

Kodi still stays at 17.6 something

Did you add this to sources.list?

deb http://download.osmc.tv/dev/gmc-19/public gmc-19 main

And did you remember to run

sudo apt-get update

before the dist-upgrade?

Yes I did the first…but forgot the 2nd step with “update” …shame on me…
Thanks for support!
