A post was merged into an existing topic: [TESTING] Kodi v19 builds for Raspberry Pi 2/3/4
OK, I was just thinking about this and why my build still shows 11/1/2020.
If I do what it says above then this is that good to go?
## Updating via the command line
To install the update:
1. [Login via the command line ](https://osmc.tv/wiki/general/accessing-the-command-line/)
2. Edit the file `/etc/apt/sources.list`
3. Add the following line: `deb http://apt.osmc.tv buster-devel main`
4. If you see this line: `deb http://apt.osmc.tv videoimprovevero49 main` remove it
Go to *My OSMC → Updates* again, and initiate an update check. Install the updates when prompted.
The point release is still 2020.11-1. This isn’t a date. It means it’s the first release produced in November 2020. So if we had an additional release it would be 2020.11-2.
There hasn’t been a new stable release so this versioning is expected. I will only bump the version when we release things to the main update channel.
Cheers
I feel brave enough to try this on my second Vero 4k+ that is in my lair
Whichever way I go into the sources.list file (nano, winscp), I get a permissions error - it won’t allow me to save the file
Is there something I need to do to get permission to change the file? I have worked in the .kodi directory before but not the osmc
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
How could I edit the file? Login via ssh is no problem but how do I get to the file to edit the line to get the updates??
I am a bit confused with your question. Aren’t you already using the testing version?
No. Couldn’t edit the file
Well generally that was kept as an entry level for the testing
I only wanted to try the test builds because of my uhd rips. They are to dark on my projector and with the new Kodi release hdr->sdr is implemented.
All you have to do is login via putty or whatever you use. Then post the command above:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Edit it by copying pasting from sam’s instructions then save it (ctrl + o)
Just got the latest update and now when navigating icons, it skips every other one
sorted with a reboot
Which icons?
Debug logs?
nah, was all ui icons and menu items. Sorted now with the reboot so no worries. What was in the update btw?
So after removing the videoimprovement line from my apt sources list I could update via myosmc. However after doing 1 update I’m now getting an error again, I updated via cli but still wont do a manual scan without error
New logs

Thanks
Can you share the error? The logs don’t show an issue.
Red box at bottom of screen
Addon Erorr
Check the log for more information
That is after trying to initiate manual scan for updates
EDIT: new logs after trying 5 or 6 times

Ok, sorry I thought you wrote you have an error when updating on the CLI.
The Addon Update error seems to be here
File "/usr/share/kodi/addons/script.module.osmcsetting.updates//resources/lib/osmcupdates/call_parent.py", line 31, in <module> open_socket.connect('/var/tmp/osmc.settings.update.sockfile') FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
Not sure if the team already has that on the radar.
Sorry about that. Read it back and I wasnt clear at all lol.
Thanks for looking at it
BTW you might want to disable wireless to avoid conflict between wired and wireless.
