[TESTING] Linux 4.9 kernel and improved video stack for Vero 4K / 4K +

This worked great! All resolutions and cec working nicely.
Thank you!

Thanks. I’ll make some changes to ensure this behaves as expected for 3.14 too.

It would be good if others can confirm if this works for them as well.

Just reapplied 4.9 to my kitchen Vero which runs through a Panny soundbar, and as before, there are no x1080 resolutions available, it maxes at 720. The OSMC splash screen is 480p, then the GUI is 720.

Looks like your edid is corrupt also. Can you plug the vero into another monitor, see if you get the correct resolutions for that screen, then plug it back into the monitor it’s currently in.

I plugged my 4.9 Vero into my Marantz AVR and it was able to pick up the x1080 resolutions. However, like my other Vero running the March build (but on 3.14), it immediately had blank screen issues upon start/stop, per the other thread I’ve been updating. 3.14 picks up x1080 just fine with my Panny speaker bar.

On re-connecting my 4.9 Vero to the Panny soundbar it booted to 1080. I then rebooted and 1080 was lost. Not sure if that means anything.

I’m getting a lot of sad faces after watching some videos. It happens randomly when starting a video, 3 or 4 movies will play fine, then when starting the next it crashes. I’ll enable logging and post the log when it happens again.

How is your EDID looking in that moment?

Your current EDID shows 1080, can’t you currently not configure GUI to 1080? Or is this from when it was working?

====================== Display Cap =================== g0gjk991

The log was just posted with the max available resolution at 720. Here are the current resolutions available to me via the GUI

also the only refresh rates available for the GUI are 59.94 and 60, it has lost all the other device-supported rates.

That’s really odd with the EDID being correct.

I just went back to the GUI resolutions and 1080 appeared in the list, without any interim action on my part. I selected 1080, the change seemed to stick, I then rebooted and then 1080 was gone again and is not in my list of available resolutions.

Yeah actually looking at the logs again seems to be a timing issue. First not detected and then detected. Maybe @grahamh or @sam_nazarko has a better idea what’s going on.

I found out that one of the Kodi samples is skipping like crazy, hope you can find out the issue, it ran fine with 3.x kernel.

If you need any logs from my side, give a shout.

The helicopter demo has never run fine IIRC.

Indeed. Although the one I have is mkv.

Weird it ran fine here, just ran it a few weeks ago.
I have Atmos now in my new home with 4 ceiling speakers.

Thanks for the link. This looks like the m2ts problem which is being actively worked on.
