Osmc reinstaled via download page. DV patch again also installed but same issue.
I tried yet 3th cable from vero V package - it did not help.
On other stream is more visible artefact issue. I’ve found inverted top and bottom letterbox. It is white with artefact instead of black. Also later there should be text on black background but is white. DV is correctly played via lg cx internal player / dlna.
I should add that I also have witnessed ‘inverted black and whites’ notably with a DV Profile 5 video.
Try this test file Inverted_B&W_P5_Test.mkv - Google Drive which displays white as black and black as white as it starts …
It’s same hdr format. In my test case Inverted colors was

I just updated and am happy to report my UHD iso files with DV Profile 7 FEL playback in Dolby Vision on my LG C1.
Since FEL is not supported, are they coming through as MEL ?
Civil War
Deadpool and Wolverine
The Fall Guy
Now give me Java run time and I may replace my Oppo 203.
thank you @sam_nazarko and team.
This test file Inverted_B&W_P5_Test.mkv - Google Drive displays white as black and black as white as the opening credits start. The black bars top/bottom of the video are white, rather than black. As the content starts there are other strange colour artefacts.
The JRE can be installed via the App Store for some time. Admittedly it is a far from perfect solution.
Cheers
Sam
Thanks for that clip and your report, @Peter77. I can reproduce the B&W problem here. We think this is only an issue on video frames with only two colours. But normally black is black so that clip is useful. Most normal video is unaffected.
It needs some fine tuning of the shaping curves - which we’re working on. I’ll lay money the problem with Top Gun is the same as Chris’s.
Burned pixels may also benefit from that fine tuning. If @Peter77 could upload a clip from that Avatar with the burned pixels we can check that out or look for some other cause. It’s significant it seems to affect all your videos while other users haven’t reported the same issue. Normally I would suspect a limited/full range issue but I suppose your TV doesn’t have a setting for that while playing DV?
Update: I think this is an issue particularly and possibly only for Apple streams. Not just the highlights but the colours are off in this sample I have.
Hi,
just to chip in about colours being off. This seems to be an issue affecting skin tones where light is reflected - the resulting part of the image seems to have an orange hue which I have noticed on a few files. Hopefully you can see in this image.
You mean it looks like badly applied highlighter makeup? Is there something you can compare that with (TV internal player, maybe)? And I assume this is Profile 5?
Also: I know you’ve been using our Profile 5 mapping since March.
- Is this effect new and
- do you see it the same now if you disable DV (Settings/Player/Videos/HDR processing/Force HDR10)?
Yes, I guess you could say like make up. I have been using DV since then but foolishly I hadn’t checked the setting in Kodi so everything was outputted as hdr10.
I tried to play it back as hdr10 on Vero but it continued to detect DV. I played it via my Tv which played it as hdr10 and the issue wasn’t present.

That shouldn’t happen. Can you post logs for that case? Does your TV support DV standard (TV-led)?
Anyway, this is different from @thechrisgregory and @Peter77’s issue which is with Profile 5.
Here’s the log. https://paste.osmc.tv/qunumuxupi
Tv is LG c1 - not sure but think it does.
also, just found the force hdr10 in player setting and osmc does play it none dv with correct colour. My mistake
Thanks
I understand C1s were given DV by a firmware upgrade. And your log shows it does DV Standard which is what we need.
Today i did test on friend lg c1. It is same as on lg cx. I’ve tested thechrisgregory test sample with white background on lg c1 an it is same. Also in this test movie you can see for few miliseconds green artefacts. I made screen shot.
It seems that it is common from apple streams. On sunday i will check more no apple streams.
Thanks for that. I get those green artifacts as well. It’s not only LGs that show this. Just to be clear, were the Top Gun and Avatar files obtained from Apple?
Unfortunately I do not have this information. But all streams where I saw this problem are also on Apple. So propably they are from apple. I will test more streams.
I’m only going on the credits at the beginning which I guess survive however the stream found its way into our collections.
Hhmmm getting the inverse colors also on my G1, haven’t seen that before.
Hi @grahamh
-
I’ve uploaded one test video with inverted BW and one test sample with visible artefact in video. I also attach correctly played DV. (Cut with latwst mkvtoolnix).
-
there are no apple credits on begin of movie.

Thanks. Leave it with us. I can see the skin tones on the artifacts clip are way off
