I can’t see how.
So I tested the 20241104 release and it doesn’t seem to be as bad as the newest build but the issue is still noticable. But with the 20241104 release it eventually reaches a state where all the artwort seem to be cached and it doesn’t reload all the images when scrolling or leaving the library view and entering it again.
my good Veros are on 20241003, I don’t think the installer has this version in the list?
The number listed on the releases pages differs from the compilation date. I also see 20241003 in the System Information screen. I guess this date is related to the Kodi compilation date, not OSMC’s.
My good Veros had been in service for some while before getting to October OSMC, so they’ve not had a clean install with that version. I don’t want to mess with them now that we’ve essentially confirmed there is an issue. Two independent reports of broken movie thumbnail browsing with clean installs of recent OSMC versions for me indicates there has to be an underlying regression. Possibly an update to one of my good Veros would work ok, but I don’t want to take the chance of breaking it. Feels more prudent to get this fixed first with clean installs of current OSMC.
Did you miss the part of that bug report where it was said it showed up and was fixed all in Kodi’s testing phase? OSMC never built against anything other than final release.
Indeed.
Just to confirm: you guys aren’t sharing thumbnails over a shared mount or anything? As this is not supported by Kodi and will cause problems.
Nope, just simply scanning files into a library as described above.
These are logs from a Kodi 20 build where everything is working fine.
These are logs from the newest build where caching showed the mentioned issue.

Apparently it was fixed
I saw that the issue was closed, but it is apparent that there is currently an issue as it seems to be reproducible.
nothing has changed in the setup I’ve used for years. I have a mysql database on the NAS, and no custom thumbnails for movies. I can reinstall OSMC again on my broken Vero, but the pattern @Ainsley and I are reporting is that in our situations, clean installs lead to broken movie thumbnail browsing in several Estuary views. I have reinstalled OSMC many times over the years, I know what I’m doing and have never encountered this issue before.
having done a search I see that @BobbyOnyx and @watdub reported the same issue back in November, so that’s at least 4 users reporting the same problem?
Good evening team. I’ve recently upgraded my 4k to a V and can immediately tell the difference in snappiness and speed. I am however experiencing a strange issue with the movies library. On my 4k, the whole library was instantly viewable and scrollable with each poster being correct and displaying as expected. On the V however, it seems to be taking up to a minute for the posters to load if I scroll beyond say, 10 films. To the point that no posters will be showing and it will look like a bl…
I’ve had my Vero V for a week or two now. It was running great until the latest update. I was so happy to get the DolbyVision working, thank you!! But now all the thumbnails are taking forever to load. and it’s basically unusable . Hope you find a fix for this is soon.
@ac16161 I changed to the Estuary Mod V2 Omega skin and things sped up. After about a week, everything was quite snappy. The Vero V is on 24/7 so it’s hard to believe it took that long to update all the thumbnails? Whatever the problem, the skin above worked for me and I actually quite like it.
Btw on Kodi 20, which does not show this issue, I tested the same procedure multiple times. I waited about 1 minutes after my 140 movies library finished scanning, then I entered the movies library with the wall view active and it took 5 seconds max for all 140 movie posters to appear. I checked this by fast scrolling to the end of the list.
On Kodi 21 the fastest I got was about 10 posters per second, but on the March version I’ve also seen it be as slow as 1 poster every 3 seconds. The even bigger problem (on the March version) is, even if you scroll down row by row and wait for the posters of a single row to appear before continuing to the next row, the images disappear again if you scroll back to the top or if you navigate somewhere else and reenter the library. So there is something very wrong.
Just wanted to respond to add another datapoint. I’m also seeing random missing thumbnails since the March update. Thanks.
I am also seeing this on a Vero4k+ after the latest update. My library was stable but since adding about 8 movies and 2 TV series it is blanking out a lot of the thumbnails and they reappear and disappear randomly.
Hi, i have exactly the same problem since the latest update (and I use the Estuary skin)
It’s only on certain movies thumbnails, and the Vero V have a very high CPU load when it happens.
I personally use the OSMC skin in list mode but my children have a user profile and they always used the Estuary skin in wall mode and I have seen this issue randomly a few times and it’s not something new.
For all I know it happens often to them and they don’t say anything about it and just work around it.
I always hated Estuary wall mode because it always seemed juddery when scrolling fast, but that’s probably just me because I’m super sensitive to frame rates, skips, drops.
Anyway, I’ll poke around some more in their user profile and see if I can replicate the issue.
Woah, that didn’t take long.
I went over to the Vero V and switched to my children’s profile and went into the movie library and was greeted with this:
I left the library and went back in and got this:
That’s pretty messed up.
I didn’t so anything at all like rescan the library or delete db files.
I just went in to their profile and that’s what I got.
That’s exactly what I am seeing on my new Vero V. It has the same basic install as my Vero4k+ but has only appeared since I updated to latest version of software.
At the moment the Vero V feels like a downgrade from the Vero 4k not an improvement.
Not be able to see the relevant TV or movies makes it unusable and frustrating.
