Trouble getting this to work with a rasberry pi

I am having trouble downloading the image onto an sd card. I am using a 32 gigabyte card so I think that should be good enough. I keep getting to an error message saying
“There seems to be an issue connecting to the network
Please check that you are not trying to download osmc via a proxy server”
I dont understand what this means it shows up as I go on to onto the screen where it asks me what version I would like. Please help

There could be a problem with one of the Mirror Servers.
As a quick workaround you could try to download the image first and then in the installer say “use local image”

Please post the log from the installer.

If you let us know what OS you are using we can help you locate this.

There is a drop down menu for what version to choose but it wont give me any options probably because of the error that I got. But, I do have the option to use a local build on my computer. I don’t know how to do that or what that means.

What do you mean by post the log?

You could go to Download - OSMC and then down to “Disk Images” and choose the latest Images for your Pi. After it is downloaded you could choose that image in the installer.

In your Windows User folder there should be a install log that should show the error.

That seemed to have gotten me further but it is now trying to install onto the device but is encountering an error while writing the image and is saying to consult the logfile. How do I find the log file?

I have edited your post using the </> format button.

You downloaded the Disk Image to the SD card instead of your Harddisk therefore you could not write to the SD card. Move the Image first onto your Harddisk and then let the installer write it to the SD Card.

I was able to get all the files downloaded onto my computer then I transferred them to the sd card and put it in the raspberry pi but it isnt working Any idea where I am going wrong here?

You download ONE file “OSMC_TGT_rbp2_20201019.img.gz” to somewhere on your C:\ drive. You then run the installer and select this file as pointed out previously. The installer will extract the contents of this file, format your SD card, and then copy the extracted files to this newly formatted partition. You then put this SD card in your RPi which will start a installer that will create a second partition and install OSMC.

I have gotten past that step and ran the installer and now have a list of of different files including a folder for overlays. With these files downloaded onto the sd card I put it into the pi with everything else hooked up and nothing happened.

Than I suggest to check HDMI cable and Powersupply.
What are the red and green LED do when you plug in power?

There is no green light lit up and the red is lit up solid. The ethernet port is flashing green.

That is not good.
Suggest to start with a image from Raspbian to ensure the device and SD Card is working.

If you have only a red light with nothing on the screen and the green light (SD card activity) does not blink at all then I would suggest to make sure your SD card is properly inserted all the way in. Some RPi cases are a bit less than ideal and allow the card to slip besides where it should be.
