Various video (MKV) files will not play

I recently switched from raspbmc on a pi to OSMC on aPI2, now a lot of movies that played happily on raspbmc will not play anymore.
The first time you start a file it seemingly does nothing ( there is a little click from the spakers ) when you then try to play it again OSMC tells you that “One or more items failed to play. Check the log file for details.”

As far as I can see they are all MKV V2’s with a AVC video codec and DTS audio.

Could you provide debug logs please.

As CaNsA says, debug logs is the first step.
The second step is to produce a sample file (e.g. with mmg from mkvtoolnix) and upload (e.g. to dropbox or google drive).
If I can reproduce the issue, I can probably fix it.

Sorry to have wasted your time guys,

The problem is not OSMC/KODI but there is something curious going on with some file permissions on my server.

Some files extracted by sabnzbd onto the movie directory did not have the correct permissions, the trailer in the same directory as the movie could be played, but the movie could not.
Of course the trailer was in a different file-format and there are only a few other movies that would not play. What also didn’t help that the movies played fine on my workstation, which I of course access as another user.

Looking at the debug log made things a bit more clear …
