I just got a Vero 4k+ and really like it compared to my old RP…
I have an older Samsung TV (about 5-6 years old) and an soundbar about that age.
I currently have the soundbar hooked up to the TV via HDMI and then the Vero 4k+ hooked up to the TV via HDMI.
I also have the option of having the soundbar hooked up to the Vero 4k+ via an optical cable.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to connecting the soundbar directly to the Vero 4k via optical cable? Thanks!
You should be able to compare here

This one is now deprecated and will be locked.
This wiki entry should give you an overview over recommended audio settings in different scenarios of using your OSMC device… Other than that there’s some explanation of the different audio settings available as well as some related audio information (FAQ).
Recommended audio settings when using your AVR/soundbar/TV’s HDMI input
Go to Settings/Sy…
If your outputting your sound to the soundbar with ARC then it will be exactly the same as using optical S/PDIF.
Does your soundbar have an HDMI input?
If so, you could plug your Vero directly into the soundbar and the soundbar will take the best audio it can support from the Vero and then pass the video out to the TV.
Thanks for all the replies and help. The soundbard is an old one and only has audio and optical inputs…Will probably upgrade TV and Soundbar soon.
