Vero 4K Kodi19 rebooting every night

Me again…
Kodi is crashing and crashing and crashing again…
I have disabled all extensions (except those for scraping Movies, Series and Music), but no way…

I still don’t get how to use this command in order to provide a filtered log:

grep ‘11:36:40’ .kodi/temp/kodi.old.log

More, I had have this strange behaviour: Cleaning library erased all files and as all these issues happened since the last update I wonder if I need to reset OSMC and Kodi.

When Kodi is crashing over and over, can you ssh in and run grab-logs -A?

Sam

Yes. I can.
It’s here

EDIT : my bad. Last 3 digits removed.

Try again, link is not valid

The last 3 digits (123) must be removed…

Link corrected.
Still crashing…

Hi all.

OSMC or/and Kodi crash all the time and have weird behaviours:

  • after a crash it reboots and works with the red light on
  • sometimes when it reboots the remote doesn’t work (it happens once)
  • the libraries stored on NAS are reachable but I can’t browse the WORKGROUP to add a new directory
  • when I ask for a log it says:

Exception Details:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File “/usr/bin/grab-logs”, line 1026, in dispatch_logs
raise ValueError(‘Upload Returned Empty String’)
ValueError: Upload Returned Empty String

Failed to upload log files, copying to /boot instead. (Unable to verify)

I’m a user (age 70), not a geek and really need help to be able to enjoy again my Vero.

I would recommend reinstalling OSMC.

This is expected, unless you enable SMBv1 on your NAS (which is a security risk).

:slightly_frowning_face:

Hello Sam
To avoid this, would it be possible to tell OSMC to cancel last update and then make a new one?

PS: found this:
Kodi - Google Chrome

Not sure what this picture is from?

Coming from the Web interface. A Kodi issue maybe. The resume is still clikable.

I see you’re using skin “Aeon Nox: SILVO”.
Just for tests could you switch to the OSMC skin and verify these crashes still occur?
With that you know it is skin related or not.

Does the web interface have several skins?
I always have this one

I don’t care about the web interface. I read your log and it clearly states

<setting id="lookandfeel.skin">skin.aeon.nox.silvo</setting>
...
2022-02-01 12:31:38.159 T:2594     INFO <general>: CAddonMgr::FindAddons: skin.aeon.nox.silvo v8.0.1 installed
...
2022-02-01 12:31:40.748 T:2594 INFO <general>: load skin from: /home/osmc/.kodi/addons/skin.aeon.nox.silvo/ (version: 8.0.1)

So, your mediacenter desktop GUI on your TV shows skin “aeon.nox.silvo”.

Yes I know the desktop skin selected on the TV is aeon.nox.silvo.

I use the web interface on my laptop to tune OSMC/Kodi options. It’s easier for me to do that with a mouse than the remote. So when I have asked for a resume that window this text appears

"Resume from <strong>08:50</strong> <small>8% complete</small>"

That’s all. I dont care about it. It works.

My problems are different.

In order to attempt to resolve the “Vero 4k Kodi19 rebooting every night” issue, you are being asked to change the GUI back to the OSMC skin and see if the issue persists.

This is your problem you would like addressed, no?

We don’t care about the web interface issues until we solve the primary problem.

I’ve changed the GUI back to the OSMC skin.
It crashes and as I said I can no more provide a log.

As those issues appeared after the last OSC/Kodi update I asked if I can make a fake reset in order to ask in My OSMC for a manual update to overwrite the whole enchilada.

Done and then made the last update and Vero is still crashing from time to time.
