Vero V Remote STILL Missing Button Presses

@sam_nazarko How long until the remote enters power saving? It’s correct that most missed keypresses are after watching 45-60 minutes without touching the remote and when using the remote to stop the video while the credits are still running. But sometimes this is even after a few minutes when trying to change subtitles or stuff like that. But it’s the first remote click usually that’s missing.

A few seconds.

Do you see a light on the button when you press it?

Ah…I see that osmc (which you represent) is going down your own rat hole when you get opposition to your business and products.
You just have to do what you want with my membership in here.

What you have understood is that you yourself are sovereign…in your own eyes.
What you have NOT understood is that you are NOT even in the majority of sovereigns in the world outside your own nose.
However, there are opportunities here far beyond osmc’s control to discuss precisely osmc.
You decide for yourself whether you want to exclude me from the osmc forum or not.

You have continuously and in a genuinely childish way avoided commenting on my technical feedback on Vero by instead attacking me as a person. I live very well with this myself, but of course want to tell the world which amateurs osmc possesses both on a personal level and on a purely technical level.

I see that you are manipulating the forum and feedback from customers to your own liking anyway.
Amateurs!

I am interested in solving the outstanding issues experienced by users in this thread so will keep it open.

To keep things productive I have stopped you from starting new posts here. You can always receive direct support via support@osmc.tv.

My understanding is that you are not currently experiencing any issues with your Vero V and are using it without issue. Therefore my focus is to work on improving the experience for those that are experiencing problems. Your posts are inhibiting my ability to do that and are not constructive - they take away time that can be spend genuinely supporting user issues.

Have a good weekend.

just glanced through this thread - it’s a variation on the Monty Python argument sketch? When it comes to influencing someone who provides a service, my first rule in life is always to be nice. Being nice always wins over ranting. And taking time to listen always wins over shouting. Just a suggestion for Mr Angry that might serve them well.

He doesn’t have any outstanding issues - that’s the thing.

This is the weirdest thread I’ve ever seen on OSMC. Sam takes care of every freaking issue that comes across his desk (as a customer I’ve seen the lengths he’s gone to far, far too many times -even from my own forum whining), and yet this random customer comes along and is bringing up, incredibly vaguely, issues he’s having, - moaning about it here and complaining like he’s been loooong suffering from these network problems, and there’s NO POST HISTORY on it. :hushed: When this is pointed out to them, they double down and complain further, more vaguely? What on earth?

Honestly, I pity OSMC at times. The BS they have to put up with… my goodness.

Holy Jesus, you guys have patience… I would have hit BAN after like the 2nd post.

Anyway, I came across this post cuz I have a similar issue with missing button presses. Looked through the guide and says to connect USB3 device in the back of Vero V. Are there two different versions of V? Cuz mine doesn’t have any USB3 ports in the back… Only two on the side.

I’m experiencing the same issue with missing button presses. In addition, the battery on the Vero V remote drains a lot faster than on the Vero 4K+.

The only connections I’m using on the Vero V are the ethernet and HDMI ports. Wi-Fi is disabled.

There are no USB ports on the back of the V. What was meant was plugging the USB device into the blue port on the side and then run the cord around to the back of the Vero so to allow for less electrical noise near the receiver that is located internally at the very front of the unit. During testing I found just moving the physical relation of the external device could provide a dramatic improvement in useable distance.

Is your Vero physically located very close to a device with a strong 2.4ghz signal such as a router or wireless access point? The battery should last as long with the current model remote as it did with the previous models.

Ah, physically place the device behind Vero. OK I will try that.

It’s next to an Apple TV that doesn’t use Wi-Fi, but it just dawned on me that Apple TV has support for Thread so I guess it will use radio even when connected via Ethernet.

Had no issues with the 4K+ in the same spot, but will test with them separated.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 30cm shielded USB 3 Type B cable? (The old printer style)

I’m loving my Vero V but the improvements in speed are utterly negated by my constant missed key-presses. I am less than 2m from my Vero and I have implemented the mitigations as best I can (I have a USB 3 drive powered from the mains)

I watch 1080p HEVC from a traditional 3.5" HDD - would downgrading to a USB 2 cable cause issues with playback? Also, I skimmed the thread, but does the vero need to have direct line of sight to the newer remote?

EDIT: Found this, with triple shielding; LINDY 36660 USB 3.0 Cable Type A to B 0.5 M : Amazon.fr: Computers

Just plug it in to the USB2 port.
This should solve the issue if you are only watching 1080p content.

Are you using an external replacement dongle or is it using the internal dongle?
If you have an external dingle you could also just get a USB A male to USB A female and move the dongle away from the Vero V.

Something like this would work:
https://www.amazon.fr/-/en/StarTech-com-1-5m-Female-Extension-Cable/dp/B001K9BFB8?s=computers&sr=1-15

Just FYI: we introduced a number of mitigations around this a long time ago.

Issues since then are still rare.

Would be curious what happens when you drop down to USB-2 port.

I wouldn’t think there should be any issue with any 4K content, including full disk rips, using USB 2 either. The only drawback should be that network transfers to the drive are capped at a lower max rate.

^ This.

On the Vero4K+, which only had USB2.0, I never once experienced any issues playing back any retail UHD remuxes; USB2.0 is wholly adequate for file playback.

Network transfers to a drive connected to the USB2.0 port will typically fall between 30~40 MBs.

If remote issues persist with nothing plugged into the USB3 port then the issue is something else.
