Vero V: Unpair remote from dongle

As I’m dealing with an issue with the USB ports on my unit, I’d like to unpair the remote from the dongle and go back to using the internal receiver. Hopefully that will make troubleshooting a bit easier.

But how do I do that? Pressing Ok + Home for a few seconds doesn’t do anything. The blue remote light never starts blinking/flashing. It just lights up and stays on for a while.

Thanks!

When you plug in an external dongle it disables the internal receiver until the next power cycle. Tell the device to reboot then immediately unplug the external dongle. Once it boots back up if it doesn’t automatically switch over the Home + OK thing should then work.

Unfortunately that didn’t work. Just to make sure I haven’t missed anything:

  1. Reboot Vero V (via UI with the remote & its dongle attached)
  2. Immediately unplug the dongle after pressing reboot
  3. Wait for the Vero V to boot back up
  4. Check if the remote works (using internal receiver)
  5. If not, press Home + OK for a couple of seconds until blue light starts flashing (to pair it with the internal receiver)

If tried 5 times in a row without success. In step 4 the remote never automatically switches to the internal receiver and in step 5 I always get a steady blue light instead of the flashes.

In step 2 I have also tried to wait for 1 sec, 2 sec, etc before unplugging but nothing seems to make a difference.

And if I plug the dongle back in the USB2 port it still works.

Any advice how to proceed? Are the other ways to unpair it? Can I share any logs?

Yes share logs without the external dongle plugged in to determine if the internal dongle is recognized at all

Ok, here you go: https://paste.osmc.tv/isewodufih

Thanks!

It appears that your internal receiver has developed a fault as it isn’t showing up in those logs. Because of warranty reasons It would probably be irresponsible to suggest removing the four screws from the bottom of the unit, using a spudger or similar tool to pry open the case at the seam starting at one of the front cornets by the window, being very careful not to damage the antennas once you get it seperated, and then swapping the internal receiver with the one you were using externally. This would void your warranty, and could potentially break your Vero, so I’m not suggesting that you do this fairly quick and easy mod. You could email support@osmc.tv and discuss the situation with Sam there. Just make sure to include your order number and a link to this thread to save yourself some time.

Will do. In fact, this is potentially not the only component that has developed a fault. I’m also having a issue with my USB ports (topic). Maybe these issues are related… Will leave that to the experts.

Thanks Darwin!
