Volume to low

Hello,

I am using the vero with a old monitor - audio is connected via the 3,5jack to a Logitech Monitor Box.
Even if i turn the volume on my logitech full up - the volume is very low. :unamused:

With the remote i canā€™t change easy the volumeā€¦
In the music section i canā€™t find any possibility to change the volumeā€¦ :unamused:

I use the rapier skinā€¦
What is wrong? and why is the volume so low? :unamused:

thanks

Are you using a CVBS cable? If you are using a 2 channel RCA connector then this may not sound correct

Volume is possible during playback with a button remapping. Iā€™m mobile but a search should find you this.

I am using a 3,5 mm jack with cable - this has cinch-connectorsā€¦ a complete normal (RCA) audio cableā€¦ whats here wrong??

Video via hdmiā€¦

See here for the correct cable spec.

thanx dillthedog - it seems this is a very special cable - but - where can i find it?

A normal cvbs cable
1-Left
2-Video
3-Ground
4-Right

Vero:
1-Left
2-Video
3-Right
4-Ground

thx

Can you not just re-arrange the cinch connectors?

Yes, except that ground must be in position 4. According to the site I linked to Raspberry Pi 4-pole Audio/Video Jack - Raspberry Pi Spy only ā€œMP3 playersā€ are going to be suitable.

yes, but i donā€™t want to solder - i am lazy

The time spent finding the correct cable is likely to be much longer than the time spent soldering everything together.

That said, not everyone knows how to solder and, given that it might not be so easy to source the correct cable, perhaps @sam_nazarko might consider adding it to the OSMC store.

I am sorryā€¦ but this is more than annoyingā€¦
I buy a vero and donā€™t want to tinkerā€¦

Now i see i have a jacket and it is complete senseless without building a cableā€¦ :rage:
Why is there a pin-out that NO ONE uses ?
Sorry - sam - but complete senselessā€¦

This worsens the product enormously
:rage:

Were you replying to me or to Sam? Iā€™m a user, just like you. I also happen to own a Vero 4K so think it would be nice if one were made available in the OSMC store, though all my sound currently goes through HDMI.

dillthedog - last sentence ā€œsamā€ - I mean of course not youā€¦

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately itā€™s hard to meet everyoneā€™s requirements.

Vero 4K has a lot of connectivity, but unfortunately supplying cables for every use case is rather tricky, and most people wouldnā€™t want to pay more for things they wouldnā€™t use.

The Vero 4Kā€™s demographic is indeed aimed at those that donā€™t want to tinker and just want something that works. Most of our users use HDMI for connectivity, with most others using optical out.

You donā€™t need to build a cable, but you need to get a compatible one.

Someone will request CVBS output soon and if we only provided 3.5mm via to phonos then someone would come along and say they really want it. It is difficult to strike a balance.

We serve as many needs as we can but thereā€™s always an exception.

You can get a USB DAC for about Ā£1.50 which will do the same thing if you have trouble finding cables.

We have to hit certain volumes / runs for items. Almost all of our users are exclusively using HDMI or the optical out. Iā€™m not sure a lot of people would buy the cable from us, and they certainly shouldnā€™t feel obliged to buy from us. People are likely to be happy to source from elsewhere.

Cheers

Sam

Sorry Sam,
the question is - where can i buy a compatible one?
And where can i can buy a uSB dac for 1,50?

This is a very basic USB 2.0 sound card: Amazon.co.uk.

This is the first one I found so I cannot attest to its quality.

You can get a compatible cable, at least on Amazon UK.

Sam

Maplin have a range, if you are in UK. Helpfully, they donā€™t tell you the pinouts on the website and thereā€™s a comment that the diagram on the packaging is wrong (!) But there are three types.

This cable on Amazon seems to fir the bill. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Signal-Phono-Composite-Video/dp/B00T4AGRM2

One user complained that it has ground at the base of the jack plug, which is whatā€™s needed.

Now i build a cable with the correct pin outā€¦

Andā€¦

Exactly the sameā€¦ volume is very low.

if i increase the loudness level (to 10 e.g.) the signal is not clear and distorted.

And yes the cable is ok - and yes the speakers are okay
:rage:

Then the issue isnā€™t the cable. The 3.5mm output isnā€™t amplified. Have you turned the volume up in Kodi?

You can remap the arrow keys to allow for volume adjustment during playback.

Are you using an amplifier or do your speakers have an amplifier built in?

You can also control the sound volume in Kodi. (I often use the Chorus2 web interface to do this.) Are you sure it is not set too low?
