What would be different if I had no security on the folder I had my media on? Within the network I mean?
If I do a factory restore would that help?
That would not make a difference
Not possible for samba
So if you access Multimedia from within Kodi with same user/password it works?
Fzinken thank you very much for your time and Dalai Lama degree of patience…
I have run out of time now, today to continue trying…
I won’t be able to try anything more for about a week…
So if there is anything that you can think of that I might be able to try in the mean time if I have a minute or two.
That would be great.
I will check back when I can, but will be back as soon as I have the time to try and get this working as I said next week.
Once again I thank you very very much for all your help and I beg of you to not loose the plot when I return as soon as I can …
Your help, guidance and patience is very much appreciated…
Stay sain…
I can access thru Kodi… yes…
SMB thru the network… just not mounting it seems
Multimedia share with same user/password?
Just using the IP
Suggest we restart fresh when you have time
That would be great…
Thank you my friend… you really are amazing…
Hello fzinken,
I am here when and if you have time…
Thank you…
Well as we said let’s start from scratch.
First let’s figure out how your Samba shares are configured on the QNAP.
On my question
You replied
So my gut feeling is that you are sharing the samba shares on the QNAP without password, could that be possible?
Yes mate, correct
Just sharing on the network only because I had issues with the password protection within the network…
NAS is also new to me. So I just wanted to get to my media…
Ok, than the whole credentials topic was wrong!
So try to remove the credential section from /etc/auto.smb.shares
as a quick try.
My network is protected but with n the network to share thru Samba, that is not
Ok
Really? You forgot everything you learned 4 days ago?
Do you think you can recover some of your knowledge or do we have to prepare all configs for you to just download them?
When I write “remove the credentials” it clearly means you need to open the file with a editor to edit and remove that part.
sudo nano /etc/auto.smb.shares
Sorry mate…
