Atmos issues

I will roll it in to a 2021.11-2 fix very soon. There are a couple of other things to fix.

Awesome. Waiting with bated breath! Could it be finally a 100% working Atmos setup? Droool!

Don’t suppose there are any updates on this? Seems like we got some of the way there, and then…

Hi

All the upstream fixes are in the latest version of OSMC.

What problems are you still experiencing? Everyone else seems happy.

I thought there were still the minor blips to fix. I’ll check again this weekend… Cheers.

They fixed them.

Ahh that’s good to hear. I’ll report back as well. Cheers!

Anyone else having this issue popping up again? The original fix seems to work for a while but I’ve lost track as to when this issue recurred again.

Which movie are you having trouble with? I’ve not had much time to test, but Encanto UHD behaved perfectly.

I’ve been using Toy Story 2 as a test, it drops out for me around 00:50:49 mark. This was initially fixed with the beta binary but seems to be back again, will try and get a clip of this.

I’ve also noticed Inside Out has been dropping out like mad as well, but the Zootopia clip seems to be okay.

Just tested Toy Story 2. At 50:49 it definitely glitched. Repeated it a few times and always glitches at the same point. :disappointed:

Well here’s a sample for anyone who wants to test this, split using mkvtoolnix.

I wonder if this is a source issue or a decoder issue.

Good question. Probably decoder? And the issues with Inside Out. I’ll need to test that one too. Any time stamps to look for?

Is Free Guy a problem? It’s the only Atmos that I have that I noticed the problem in the past. I haven’t tried it with the latest update.

May need to re-watch it at some stage but I took notice of a handful of dropouts when watching it for the first time the other day.

You don’t happen to have a link to the sample file by any chance, can’t say I’ve seen this one before.

No, I don’t have a link for it. It’s the only Atmos movie that I have where I noticed the problem. It’s late here, so I’ll try watching it tomorrow and see if the problem is back for me.

Ok, I decided to stay up a bit late to test.

Tried Free Guy (it’s the only Atmos that I had the problem with). And Mmm interesting results.

I got massive video glitches, major pixalation. Rebooted and the same thing. Tried other 4K movies and some were OK, some had the same glitches.

Did a power cycle and now Free Guy is playing perfect.

I don’t remember where I had the Atmos glitches before, but there were a lot in Free Guy. I’m 10 minutes into it with no problems.

So I’d ask you to try doing a full power off (graceful shutdown, pull power and reboot) and see (hear) if you still have the problem.

EDIT: So I’m 30 minutes into the movie, and no audio glitches. Like I said I don’t know exactly where I had issues before, but there were a lot during the whole movie. Also, I have to mention that my copy was ripped by myself using MakeMKV. And it was using the version after the developer made some changes due to audio issues.

This sounded like a similar UHD/HEVC bug that I was having prior to this release, the release today appears to have resolved it.

Regardless, did a full power cycle (shutdown > power off) and the audio glitch in Toy Story 2 appears to be there still.

Yep is for me too.
