Since Toy Story 2 4K seems to be a problem, I’ve order a copy for myself so I can test. It will be here Wednesday.
I’m curious, has anyone who’s having problems with Toy Story tried Free Guy? That’s the only movie that I have that I exhibited the problem for me. Movies that others complained about like Aladdin never glitched for me. But Free Guy?! Yea that one was really bad. Yesterday when I tested Free Guy it played with no issues so it would be interesting to see how it works for others.
Just checked 1:22:29 (started at 1:19:xx and now at 1:25:xx) and I had no audio glitch. Did you rip Free Guy yourself, or get it elsewhere. If you ripped it, did you do it using MakeMKV? And did you do any other processing (like Handbrake, etc?) I ripped my copy myself using MakeMKV and did no further processing. In MakeMVK it do have it strip out all non-english audio and subs.
Very interesting, I’m in the process of ripping Toy Story 2, and this intrigues me (from the MakeMKV log):
AV sync issue in stream 2 at 0:50:48.711 with duration of 4.186ms : encountered overlapping frame, audio skew is +24.166ms
AV sync issue in stream 3 at 0:50:48.712 with duration of 3.708ms : encountered overlapping frame, audio skew is +23.666ms
AV sync issue in stream 2 at 0:51:34.132 with duration of 19.147ms : encountered overlapping frame, audio skew is +43.313ms
AV sync issue in stream 2 at 0:51:34.176 with duration of 32ms : 1 frame(s) dropped to reduce audio skew to +11.313ms
AV sync issue in stream 3 at 0:51:34.132 with duration of 19.625ms : encountered overlapping frame, audio skew is +43.291ms
AV sync issue in stream 3 at 0:51:34.176 with duration of 32ms : 1 frame(s) dropped to reduce audio skew to +11.291ms
I’d say more that it may be a bug in MakeMKV. Some time ago the developer made a lot of changes to improve Atmos. It may be that he hasn’t quite fix all the problems yet.
I haven’t actually watched TS2 yet to test it. I do see these sync issues all the time when ripping and they never cause any audio glitches for me. Maybe some AVRs are just more sensitive to it.
I can’t answer that. But give me about an hour and I’ll actually test watching TS2 and report if I hear the glitch or not. If I do hear it, maybe it give use something to go to the MakeMKV developer with.
Ok, so I checked TS2 at 50:49 when the purse falls to the floor. And I hear no audio glitch at all.
@WilliamG what version of MakeMKV did you use to rip TS2? I used the latest version (1.16.7). If you ripped TS2 with an older version, maybe try again with the latest? It could be that you ripped your copy before he fixed the Atmos bug.
