Hi,
I am trying to play 3D MKV files created with MakeMKV containing MVC video.
Device is a RPi 2 with the latest OSMC update.
In the settings there are only options for SBS and TAB.
I tried setting HDMI_FORCE_EDID_3D=1 in config.txt but that didn’t help.
When naming the file xxxx.3D.SBS.mkv OSMC switches to 3D SBS Mode but there is no 3D effect.
How do I need to name the file for OSMC to detect full frame 3D properly?

Do you have Adjust refresh rate to match video on? You will need this so Pi can switch the TV mode

Can you post mediainfo for file and ensure it contains the stereo stream?
If it does can you enable debug logging in system/debugging settings and reboot.

New OSMC user, new to 3D, taken the plunge from Raspbmc specifically to get this feature… have exactly the same problem here on RPi1B with latest OSMC release (4aug15 build - no mention of Kodi version??? in sys info). Latest rel of makemkv (1.9.5) files show 2 views in mediainfo (consistent with file size) and only play 2D in Kodi, and no 3D tag in confluence? Same for v1.9.4 makemkv.
Also appears to be a bug showing in confluence that TAB files display 3D tag but SBS don’t, except in the movie information screen - they work OK. Those files were flagged by filename.
There is definitely some funny hidden states here as I have seen a TAB file that appeared to be converted to full frame but no notification sent to TV. Now with filename tagging TAB and SBS not converted and correctly notify the TV with both MVC/full options in video accl ON. Kodi behaving exactly as I would expect with both those options turned off? I found the online help for those fields ambiguous - wanted MVC passed thru full frame and TAB/SBS passed over for TV to reformat. Many thanks.

I have the ticked the MVC channel when ripping with makemkv (obviously this isn’t selected by default so I have double checked that I have definitely included it)
You also need to name the file with a 3D tag. E.g. “Movie.3D.SBS.mkv”.

You can alternatively mark it as 3D with the video OSD when playing (you need to set as 3D SBS, then stop, then play again, and it should give the option of playing as mono/stereo).
Note: for MVC the SBS or TAB tag doesn’t affect the video - it will be full resolution in either case, but it does determine if GUI is rendered at half width or half height.

Yes, makemkv doesn’t seem to set the Stereomode field (at least not in the way kodi expects).
Have you had the stereomode mkv tag working with other non-MVC 3D files in kodi?
I rechecked all options, file names an cables. Now it works fine when naming the file xxx.3d.sbs.mkv.

have you checked on command line if your TV is recognized as 3D capable?
“tvservice -m CEA” should show something like 1080p@24hz SBS/TAB/FP
I had the issue that the output was frame packed but only one eye was shown.
After checking cabling it worked.
Also you may try using the RPi’s HDMI cable with your 3D BD-Player to see if it alright.
Not sure what command line you are referring to… (if thru ssh what is def user/pwd?)
I do have a problem in that it appears that the “Use Full HD HDMI mode for 3D” switch is stuck on, even after clearing it and reboot. A file that has HSBS or HTAB set is being converted to full frame 3D always. So I guess OSMC thinks the TV is capable (is HDMI2 2160p). I can flip 3D on and off at the TV - when it is off I see one eye full frame.
Now OSMC does a poor job of this conversion so I want to turn it off - when I compare it to XBMCv13 playing the same file with the TV doing conversion the TV does a much better job (it is 4K passive 3D with very good video processing capability).
Did try one other stereo-mode in a makemkv file: “both_eyes_laced_left_first” and that gave OSMC indegestion - black screen and no progress of time… after a few tries it gave up and refused to try to go into any 3D mode.
