First time vero 4k user having sound problems on some videos in twitch and youtube apps

Thank’s a lot for looking into this. My old WD standalone player had no issues with playing any such files, but it was a much more simple player. Maybe its simplicity helped with playing back this confusing files

Here is a sample of a file I mention above.

No problem ! Thanks for looking into it. I will provide more samples during the weekend when i have more time for this stuff

Hi Sam !

I hope you have a nice weekend !

So I have looked for streams in wich the audio was broken at 1080p@60fps in the vero 4k using the twitch addon then i went to my pc and captured those streams using http://docs.livestreamer.io/ so i got the original stream capture. I then tried playing those files on the vero 4k to see if its an addon problem and i found out that the videos will have broken audio even if i play them from the HDD.

I made samples of this videos for you here.

Again, audio and video are out of sync by very nature (look at the MediaInfo)

ffmpeg (software decoding) is likely to be a better job at decoding this. Try disabling amcodec in System -> Settings and let me know how playback is. Remember to re-enable it for demanding content.

I can hack around it (and will in the next update), but this seems out of spec to me.

I know i saw it but it seams that this days there is a lot of user generated content on the internet that comes with this strange anomaly so a hack as you call it would be greatly appreciated at least from my side ( cant wait for next update )

Im currently not with my vero so i will try your suggestion tomorrow and report back

I decidet to get the 4k because i wanted to get an all in one multimedia device that will allow me to watch HD content and the best format and replace my need for a chromecast. So if you manage to get the “wierd” videos working that will be just great for me

Thanks again for all the support !

In sistem Settings ? Im a bit lost ? Where do I find amcodec ? The only codecs I find are under settings add on browser my add ons-> audio Decoders and Audio Encoders but none says amcodec in Audio Encoders I have

-AAC encoder enabled and I can’t find the option to disable it
-Flac Audio Encoder enabled but I can disable it
–Lame MP3 Audio Encoder enabled but I can disable it
-Vorbis Audio Encoder Enabled but I can disable it
-wav Audio Encoder disabled but I can enable it
-WMA Encoder enabled and i can’t find the option to disable it

I’m on location with the device at the moment and will be here for the next 5-6 hours so if you could answer in that time that would be great!

It’s under System -> Settings -> Playback if I recall correctly. Make sure settings are on ‘Expert’. It’s called ‘Accelerate h264’, ‘Accelerate MPEG2’ etc. Try disable it for H264 and play the clip. Remember to re-enable afterwards (this is just a test)

Thx it was under settings-> player-> video I made what you said and restarted the device sadly the sound is still broken in those videos in question

I have played the samples that I sent you back from the hdd in case it matters

Just bumping this so Sam won’t forget about me  Not in a big rush but I hope maybe a solution is in sight?

I’m still looking at this.

Cheers

Sam

Thanks Sam !

Installed the April update, sadly the issues didn’t go away

Found one more video with broken audio if played back over the vero 4k. Same problem as the other ones i posted

Is this the same source as the Twitch videos?
That seems a very strange encode.

Is it only AAC content giving you problems?

Its a so called webrip yes but not from twitch i can make you a sample if you’d like. Looking at the media info logs of stuff that didn’t play properly I previously posted they all have in common that Audio has a different frame rate then video and yes they seam all to be AAC

Yes – a sample would help

Cheers
